Ben Spies Yamaha YZF-M1
he debuts at this weekends MotoGP at Valencia in Spain
how do you think he'll fair? |
was supposed to have a poll with this but for some reason works pc's are playing up on this forum
I'm talking a punt on 5th, 6th or 7th and to at least beat Toseland as his main aim |
top 5 deffo, perhaps a top 3?????
|
You never can really tell with superbike to motogp I dont think. I would expect him to start to do well fairly quickly but its too much to ask to jump on and get in the top ten?
Has he been allowed any practise or is it first time at the race? |
It's a tough one to call as Rossi hasn't got anything to fight for but we all know how much he loves riding so i think he'll still be fighting it out with Stoner.......
Pedrosa is starting to look good at last and Lorenzo will be there.... plus not forgetting the veterans like Edwards - I can't see him allowing Spies to just turn up and beat him?? I think 8th is a safe bet but definitely top 10..... |
I think theres a good chance he'll end up on his backside in the gravel.
Bit more to riding a motogp bike than a superbike, has he ever tested a real bike? :p |
From Motogp.com
Two practice sessions will be enough for Spies to be able to establish a realistic target for Sunday’s race, he says. “I’ll know more on Saturday afternoon what is possible,” Spies commented. “I’d be very happy with a top-ten result for the first weekend on the bike; that would be very difficult too. I don’t know yet, after qualifying on Saturday I think I’ll know a little bit more what my chances are for the race.” “You can’t compare a GP bike and a Superbike, they’re completely different so this is still a Yamaha, but it’s a new bike for me. With only about three hours of track time and then a race it’s going to be pretty hard to learn quickly so we’ll just take our time.” |
FP1 he's 15th, 1 sec off 6th place
|
now ysee i was just gonna say that, top 15 if hes lucky i reckon.
Ive no real room to talk i couldnt even get to bsb!!! |
Starts 9th / 1.283 secs from pole  and in front of Toesland who's 14th http://www.oople.com/forums/images/icons/icon13.gif

Did William Dunlop qualify he had about ten mins before the end. Ben Spies has a proper riders style of riding. Bradders isnt going to gp 2 which is a shame will have to wait a few more years for him to be in moto gp.

That was a very impressive ride from Spies took his time to get used to the bike and tyres then pulled through the pack in the second half!!
I just cant understand why Toseland cant ride the Yamaha like that, shame for him. Pedrosa checked out and I couldnt believe Stoners school boy error! |

good ride from Ben, watch his testing times from Tuesday 10th Nov |
JT
JUST THINK BACK JT DID GET TO GRIPS WITH THE BIKE, HE WASNT THERE A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THEY WERE WAVING CONTRACT EXTENTIONS AT HIM.
I HOPE BEN DOES GO WELL BUT ONLY TIME WILL TELL. JUST A REMINDER IF STONER HAD STAYED ON THE BIKE AFTER THE WARMUP WE ALL KNOW HE WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY WON IT THE DUCATI WAS VERY QUICK (JUST LOOK AT TEAM MATE) AND SPIES WOULD HAVE FINISHED PRETTY MUCH IN THE SAME PLACE HE STARTED. BUT THERE AGAIN HE WAS STILL IN FRONT OF JT. ROLL ON NEXT YEAR. |
