XXX-4 Front driveshaft options

Guys ive just bought a new Losi XXX-4 G+which i thought was supposed to come with MIP CVD's. The box says it does and so does all Losi literature. However mine came with the usual big plastic driveshafts the old XX4's and XX's used to come with in the rear which i dont mind as they are pretty bulletproof. In the front came some bizarre driveshafts ive never seen before which ive been told are LCD's and not that good. I took care in building them properly and even put some heat shrink tubing over the tube the pins go through which kept them together for 3 qualifying runs but in the final i lost front drive. After checking it seems the pins in the CVD part are still in their original central position and tight but the connecting tube is missing completely. I can only assume as the pins are still as they should be the tube has twisted or bent and came out never to be seen again. I know i can buy a rebuild kit which will give me the part i need to repair them but i would like something a little more bulletproof.
Im thinking that the X Factory X5 and XX4 will have the same front shafts so there must be some other options rather than these LCD's.
Anyone have any ideas or links as to where ill find them ??

Check out MIP's newer axles for the XXX4 (front only). they have a pin capture ring. The pins on my cvd's are wrecking my dogbones so I am investing in some Hudy pins then filing a flat area in the middle so the grub screw has more contact with the pin. Anyone tried drilling new holes in the dogbones?? why don't they make them with multiple holes? actually i know the answer, you would not need to buy a new dogbone

I drilled new holes in aluminum bones, so far so good.

Avner.

Hi the MIP C-CVD's are now here and available in the UK, however they only make a rear to fit the XX4/XXX4/X5 but NOT a front as you put in your post

Not the same no, both outer axle and dogbone are different.

I dind't know they came with LCD's now, that's not good as Brian Preddy aside most people can't get them to hold together as you say!

As Dan has mentioned i have been using LCD's for 4 years now, the only ha 1 failure and that was because the pin snapped.

Ive run LCD's for a while I built them first time out and ran them for 3 or 4 meetings at southport national one of them gunked up a bit so i took them out the car and chucked a spare pair of CVD's in as i didnt want to build them trackside, unfortunatly Ive never got round to rebuilding them. But in the time i did run them they seemed all good to me. I will build them back up again.

Thanks for the replies boys,
I spoke to DMS earlier this week about some CVD's and they did have one set left but after that no replacement bones are available so ill have to go back to LCD's when they wear out so i might as well stay with them from the start.
Ive cleaned all the grub screws and tubes up with motor spray and thread locked them with proper thread lock making sure the pins are perfectly centralised in the LCD tubes. Cant see what else i can do but anyone who has any pointers to building them that will be cool...
