losi excelorin firmware..which one?

just bought a 2nd hand losi excelorin speedo losb5900 1/10th sensored version.

installed version 3.0 of the losi software.
it says the esc software is D.11.01.23

does it need a firmware update?

the firmware i have downloaded from the losi website is named D01012901.LSC

i dont want to install the wrong firmware so thought i better ask first :)

cheers
dave

Pretty sure that is the correct one. See my thread here http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27764. I put the wrong one on first, not a good idea! Felt a bit stupid!

I heard some BAD things about firmare updates.
The end result is--- If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If things work, don't ever do firmware updates, ever. You have been warned....

When i bought a brand new xcelorin i updated the firmware, and it destoryed it lol sent it to horrizon hobby and they said the file was corrupt then exchanged to novak :D

Defineatly don`t update the firmware unless you are having problems as it , in my experience creates problems

Dunno, ive got a brand new xcellorin updated firm ware and seems to be ok.

Its just a bit too powerful imo for my b4, does anybody know what the best settings for it would be in a b4 for a numpty truggy driver??

I got a new losi system the other week and updated the firmware without a problem after getting my PC to recognise the ESC.

dave g 04-11-2009 09:56 PM

i was told that if it has the old firmware on then it sometimes forgets its settings and the brakes arent very good..i guess i should try it first.

All new systems come shipped with the latest firmware :eh?:

damo666 04-11-2009 10:44 PM

Mine didn't :p

steelie600 05-11-2009 03:51 AM

mine neither

The very first version of the firmware on the original xcelerion systems had some random braking problems. Sometimes it wouldnt have any and i had the smashed cars to prove !! I upgraded to version 2.0 last year and had zero problems after. This year ive bought a new speedo and it already has the version 2.0 installed, ill put the 3.0 version on when i get a minute latest is best in my opinion....
Steelie, why dont you try leaning your xcelerion out to slow it down ? Seems to work on your nitro cars :) But seriously try altering your throttle limiter and motor timing that should work. If you get stuck i can forward you the profile from my rockcrawler which should be smooth......

Ironically, mine didn't work untill I installed version 3..

dave g 05-11-2009 10:52 AM

just updated it,went pretty smooth

installed the latest v3 losi software
downloaded the latest firmware
installed the firmware, took about a minute or so
then get a read error code
reset speedo to factory settings using the command tab in v3 software
set parameters you want
save it

bingo all done.

:D:thumbsup:

That's about what happened with mine.
Enjoy, Dave! IMO there is no better brushless esc for the money.

HA HA your funny:p:p

Ive turned the top speed down to 70% and timings on 0 degree's and thats bearable i reckon, its the braking and initial throttle thats troubling me at the minute, no matter how gentle i am it leaves 2 black lines everywhere!! What do u reckon to altering the throtle curve?? and how would you do it jimmy? and as for brakes ive got them on 20% and all they do is lock up!! would drag brakes only work??

excelorin returned to horizon

Just purchased and raced a 6.5 combo for 7 races and on the 8th race it lost all its basic settings,re-calibrated it to the tranny as instructions, after switching of esc then back on again both blue and yellow lights are on.Spoke to other people and they said try filmware 3.Pluged in usb-connected,esc won;t connect. If i knew this speedo needed updating on my pc then it ain't no use to me(lrp speedos for me).have returned to horizon, might get a replacement and just run it on the default settings.had qualified 7th after 2nd round on kiddy on sunday-losi stopped play, seriosly miffed.

I've just purchased a 6.5 combo and fitted it in the car and tested it to make sure working okay and not a problem. Then I went and used the quick program card to change the settings and now it has the blue and yellow light on and now it only spins the motor in reverse when I push forward on the stick. So hoping that it may need the motor reversing or I can use the set up sofware to see whats going on. But thats the other problem as don't have a computer that runs windows xp or better as only had Apple mac's for years and still using an old emac and mac book. So now have to find someone with a Pc who will let me install the sofware and try and get it working or get a copy of virtual pc to run on the mac. So why can't these companies write these programs for windows and mac as thought being an american company they would have.

...erm basically you will want to get the software running on the PC. Theres a lot more options and different levels of settings. I used the quick program card, but found there was a lot more control/settings on the PC program itself.Go find a PC:thumbsup:

johnb 09-11-2009 11:08 PM

Yeah I bought it knowing that I would have to use a Pc to access all the options and settings to get the best out of it. But was going to use it to start with on the profiles you can choose from then adjust with the program card so I could at least start racing with it and then get a secondhand laptop to take with me to meets or get virtual pc to run on my mac book. But would have liked to at least given it a run down at the club with the basic profile to see what it went like but now have to plug it into a computer to see if it even works as it did work okay when first fitted it in the car but now has problems so don't know if it's faulty.
