Some pics of my Lazer ZX-5
I've had this shell for a few month but only just got round to changing it. I didn't like the standard Lazer shell so I bought one off the net and a guy on here called (Keith) painted it for me, and a grand job he did anarl.

I suppose design is always going to divide opinion, but I love it.
Probably need to spend some money on some decent mods now, I've already replaced the wheels, tyres and inserts. The shell, brushless motor (4.5t), ESC and 2.4Ghz radio gear. I broke the suspension arms on the front so they've been replaced with alloy ones. Next I think are some changes to the differential to replace the plastic CV's to the metal ones, then maybe start replacing the wishbones etc for the 3 holes ones. |

Is it the ZX5 RTR with mods?

I bought it back in June to start racing again, I've only raced it once so far and that was a few month back (been really busy with work). I kind of thought I'd buy a cheap car, replace the electrics and then replace bits for better bits as they broke. Straight away I've noticed the plastic CV's are a worry, they're not causing any issues at the minute, but I'm certain they won't last long. |

I'm sure the ZX5 will last me at least another year before it needs to be replaced, if not longer. If I replace parts as I go and it's driving well, there's no reason I'll need to replace it. Some people say the RTR version was crap, but to me it was good value for money. Maybe long term a more expensive kit would have made more sense, but moding the RTR also provides me with valuable experience. |
