Capacitors on Brushless speedos

Does anybody connect capacitors to there brushless speedo,

I personally have never done with my brushless speedo but it blew up yesterday so when returned i was wondering if it would help.

Also What value capacitors are you using (volts / Microfarad)

Cheers

Mike

you need to have one on the LRP / Nosram I believe??
I am using the LRP Sphere, non-competition.. I put a brand new one (esc) in at Tiverton and just before I went out with the 3* motor I remembered what mr.Doughty had said - that you need to put the cap on to protect it when running 3* or faster.. so had to hastilly solder a cap in, I just blagged any random one that would fit.
Considering it was a basic brushless, it was fast and powerful - and I managed to win all my qualifiers.

the sphere and matrix evo come with capacitors, and they should be used if they come with them

MikePimlott 23-04-2007 03:52 PM

I use the nosram matrix (none evo) didnt come with a cap.

Does anybody know any values of capacitor??

Andrew Simpson 23-04-2007 03:55 PM

yeah, thats because u dont have have the matirx evolution and so will never have to cope with the power of 4.5 (or 4star maybe) and so the speedo does not need to be protected by the cap.

dont know the value of the cap that comes with the evolution but im sure sum one can have a look for u (im at uni so cant get to my car)

in my touring car (on a non brushless speedo) i run a HUGE capacitor

I have the same non evo esc and have a cap the same ratings/size as the 2007 Evo soldered to the + & -

works a treat @ the mo:)

Excellent cheers mate.

Ive also heard that insted of soldering it to the + & - you can solder it to a plug and plug it into the receiver. :eh?:

Hey guys,

I have 2 capacitors, one is fitted standard on my Novak 4.5 setup, and I recently added a 10v 4700uf to my reciever.

Hope this helps.

That's an entirely different thing though, that's to hold the receiver voltage up under load of servo, PT etc. I tried one on the weekend when I had interference, made little difference but I didn't think it would as I run a 7.2V servo.
