Just were are they allowed to park whilst carring out there duties?

Passed one today without the blue's & two's going parked in the cross hatched area on the A19

If they are parked illegally would you get away with it if you happened to be pulled & prosocuted for a motoring offence?

Why not have better things to worry about? And were you wondering about this as you passed them above the speed limit? Why is it that standards always apply to someone else, and not to ourselves. And why are you not in the least bit worried about the fact that you think the Police will persecute you if you ask an innocent question? Now that's worth worrying about... :rolleyes:

to be able to uphold the law, you cannot be seen to be above the law, that includes, whilst driving, they must obey the law, and rules of the road.

So if your family ever was to become the victim of some form of issue that required immediate police responce, or ambulance responce, you would accept the police sticking to 30mph through your residential area?

Chris, don't be a knob, you know as well as I do, when under emergency services, they are allowed to exceed the speed limit, and run red lights, as long as it is safe to do so.

I think, what Glenn was trying to say was, if he was parked there, he would of been made to move, but if there was a need, for the blue flashing lights, as long as it was safe, then it is ok. Just like all of us, unless the Police are on the way to an emergency, with their blue lights on, they must obey all the rules of the road, that includes parking on double yellows, speeding, etc.

Seen a copper on his mobile phone the other day pulling out of a junction.

Sunday gone on way home from meeting travelling North on M1 Traffic Car came past me, no blue's & two's doing more than 70 :woot:. I was bang on 70 as the cruise control was on :thumbsup:

you should have pulled up behind them got out-walked over to the car and asked them if it was their car and can you see some insurance.
and while they sit there go round looking at the tyres tuting!:lol:
ive seen one by me (m53)on his phone with no seat belt on.....twats!

My favorite was just after they pedestrianized Chelmsford high street back in the early '90s me and some mates were walking through town around 7ish. Cop car came down the far end of the road from the direction of the station, flicked its blue lights on and swerved through the barriers marking the pedestrian zone. It drove down the pedestrian section, lights flashing and pulled up outside Pizzaland. One copper stayed in the car, the other went in, only to appear 2 mins later with a stack of pizza boxes. He climbed into the car, they swung round and drove back up the pedestrian zone towards the station, lights going all the way till they returned to the road!

I remember seeing on a program once about the emergency services, that, they don't actualy have right of way at red lights, even when the blue lights are flashing. Its just us curtious drivers that would rather give them the room to get where they're going, quickly.

Its the same with ambulances, its their jobs to negotiate the traffic, not ours to get out of their way. They say ths because, some idiot drivers make unpredictable movements when trying to get out of their way.
I've seen some tosspots actually just come to a stop in the middle of the road!! totally blocking the ambulances path!! and nearly causing rear end accidents!


.....although, some ambulance drivers do have an 'I own the road' attitude.
I was on my way home from work once when I heard the telltale siren noise. Now, the traffic was stopped and was bumper to bumper so the carshad no where to go. So the ambulance was going to have to go onto the other side of the road to get round us....He still insisted on hanging out of the window and calling us all 'Tw*ts' for not moving!!....nice.:thumbdown:
What are we supposed to do? get out of the cars and lift them to the pavement just so they can get through!??

I once got pulled at 3 in the morning going to an all nighter in Great Harwood. I had not been drinking, as he was looking round my car I noticed his front light was out so I told him and he just got back into his car and drove off result.:lol:

Tel, you are right, they have to ascertain, whether it is safe to cross a Red light, or move across into the oncoming traffic, we all move cause we all think, one day, that Ambulance/Police Car/Fire Engine/Coastguard could be for us, but when they take that risk, they have to ensure it is safe, not the other way around. If they hit you in doing so, they are liable, careless of lights and sirens. But, we all try to help them through the traffic.

Police officers, illegaly driving cars, does infuriate me, like speeding in a built up area, using mobiles, no belts, etc, but I wouldn't dare give em grief over it, as I know my reg would be on an unofficial black list.
