Losi Xcelorin ESC

I just found out that the ESC with its fan on is too big for my Associated B4 because the bodyshell won't fit. The ESC is BIG!

I took the fan off, and it fitted okay.

Will it be okay for the ESC to be used without the fan? Will it overheat?

Stand the fan up in front of the speedo and tape/glue it to the chassis.

That way it will still move air over the speedo and you won't have to worry about it overheating.

Without the fan it may overheat, depending on your motor and gearing and how you're using it. Why not just check the temp during a run and see if it's getting warm? Wich motor do you have and what gearing?

Another solution

Before I switched to the Losi camp, I was also having issues trying to mount an LRP Sphere TC esc with fan into the B4 .
( The Losi is almost the same height with fan ) .

The solution I found was buying the Proline Vortex body since it has sidepods
which are higher.

Only thing is you need to put the ESC all the way in the back for the body to pass.

Hope this might be usefull.

I ran my X6 most of the season with a losi speedo and no fan running a 6.5. I've had no over heating issues.

over heating

I would try to use the fan on the speedo, i put one in my pred running a 6.5 without the fan in there and it over-heated just after 4mins run time. I put a slimmer fan on there and had no issue's after it.
(the fan was off my ezrun)

Running them without a fan in 2wd is ok if you have some air flow-though as its less stress on the car and you run generally less powerful motors. I know a couple of people who do this on Xcelorins and they dont have overheating problems in their 2wd buggies with 7.5's.

In 4wd & with hotter motors though, i wouldnt run without a fan.

I have been running the Losi speedo all year without the fan in a B4 with a 6.5 no problems. I have got the proline vortex shell with the holes cut out in the side pods.
