B-Max4 Spur/Pinion + ESC/Motor + Battery + Runtime + Heat

Hi guys, I am seriously struggeling to get a proper setup on my B-Max4. The problem is that I seem to overheat my motor + ESC or don't have enough end-speed or acceleration ... or have a very low runtime. I tried many ESCs, motors, Pinion/Spur combinations, etc. But rather than continuing testing potential setups, I thought getting some help from you would be quite worthwhile ... ;-)

For now, this is what I have available (or can make available via my buddies):

ESCs:
- Castle Mamba Max
- Carson Dragster Pro
- LRP A.I. Brushless Pro Revers

Brushless-Motors:
- Carson 6.5T (4850 kv)
- 5.5 T (5800 kv)
- Castle Mamba 6 T (6900 kv)
- Nosram Storm Evo 4.5 T (7800 kv)

LiPo-Batteries:
- LRP 4800 (40 C)
- Reedy 4200 (35 C)

Well, if you could give me some indication of what of the above I should set up (ESC+Motor + Pinion/Spur) .... or even better, just let me know your setup so that I can try the same or something similar (buying new stuff is not an issue ;-)

Thanks a lot. Cheers, Oli

PS:
a) I literally melted a Carson ESC by running Reedy 4200 + Carson ESC + 5.5 T (5800 kv) on 17/87 (Spur/Pinion)
b) With the Castle setup (ESC + Motor) on 19/87 I stopped when I had 111 C on Motor + 100 C on ESC. Isn't that far too hot?

I had a similar problem with my b-max...try to reshimm it with some thinner shims, use 12mm 01 instead of the original 12mm 02 shims and the same with the 8mm shims.......

I've been running my Bmax with the following with no problems on my track.
Tekin RS Pro esc
Tekin Redline 8.5 motor 87/18
Tekin Redline 6.5 motor 87/16

Temp was as follows after about 8mins of runtime:
Esc: About 65 deg C
Motor: About 70 deg C
Batteries: About 40 deg C

I started with the 6.5 but eventually ran the 8.5 because the power was a little too wild for my liking.

It looks like your ratios are a little on the hot side.
You might want to check on your pinion/spur mesh as well. The covered gearbox may sometimes make meshing hard to inspect.

Hope this helps.
