AE SC18! Belt drive!
|
Has anyone heard a release date?
Will the rc18t bits fit?? |
I wouldnt expect anything super soon Mark :( Will be interesting to see the drivetrain though once they release the pics!
|
Yes your probably right Cosie! It's not even on the AE website yet!
A grid of these would be a good laugh ! Maybe a box stock class as you race your Phat bodies SC trucks now? Is there any video action of the SC 18th racing from the SC meeting at Hereford? |
Waiting to see what changes they made to the sreering set up? that was the only week link in the RC18 series.
|
AE have seen the light Belts are the future.

This has just been officially released:
http://67.199.85.166/ae/sc18/20120-chassis.jpg The belt drive system looks quite Losi-esque to me... Still got the mudflaps though - coolest thing attached to any RC car. http://67.199.85.166/ae/sc18/20120-bodyblue.jpg http://67.199.85.166/ae/sc18/20120-bodyblack.jpg http://67.199.85.166/ae/sc18/20120-bodysilver.jpg Wish they'd done some nice officially lisenced bodies though. |
xxx4 !
looks pretty cool - tho from my experience with the rc18 I'm not impressed with the cheeze-like properties of the plastics. |
Wonder if they do'll a kit or just be rtr?
Heard it's gunna be March before we see them? |
Am I the only one to wonder why the servo is on the opposite side to where it is on the RC18?
|
Quote:
95% of brushed motors are timed in one direction, so they need to be installed so they rotate in the right direction (they have negative timing advance otherwise, and run piss-poorly). Thus, nearly every belt drive car ever designed has the motor on the left side of the chassis (so it rotates towards the back of the car). That dictates the motor position, so to take normal sized battery packs, they have to be mounted on the opposite side. Have the servo on the other side of the SC18.....and theres no-where for the battery pack to go. Simples. If its the same as the RC18 series, the SC18FT will be a kit with some juicy upgrades (and no electrics), but the SC18 will just be RTR. Having said that though, theres no SC10FT kit yet. :) |
I never knew that, but I suppose it's just one of those things that "are", that you just don't think about :)
