Cheap fun RWD road car

I'm looking for a 2nd car and as I think I'm starting a mid life crisis I'm only interested in a RWD fun machine :lol:

Must be:

Cheap to buy
Cheap to run
Have more than 2 seat - Mia might want to go in it sometimes
Have a roof

Are there any forgotten gems out there? :woot:

Cheers,

G

Hmmm there's got to be a few options such as:

Nissan 200 SX
Nissan 300 ZX
BMW E30 or E36 or even E39 5 Series?
Old style Supra
Mazda RX7 - Not cheap to run mind.....

E36 325i would probably be the best bet, nice and cheap, reliable and still fun!

Porsche 924/944  (924 better looking, cheaper to run, 944 more Porsche-like power)

- Great handling from 50/50 weight distribution (engine angled back, rear gearbox)
- Proper sports car feel (sit low in centre of car)
- Dirt cheap classic insurance
- More power than grip
- Traffic always let's it by when they see it in mirror
- Knightrider stylee pop-up lights

Depends on budget but loads of older great RWD's out there... another vote for the Porsche 944 range ( S2 the best all rounder ) and the E30 325i, but prices arent as cheap as they used to be for a good one, and to run them on a budget you need to be able to work on them yourself.

Or for a £1000 budget for pure, simple RWD fun ( only 2 seats mind, but cheap, distinctive and very mechanically reliable ) the Toyota MK1 MR2. I did 80k in my old one, only thing that ever let me down on it in 10 years were the alternators, which seem to die quite quickly. Still got it in my back yard under a tarp, i just couldnt bear to part with it was so good

Buy a good one of these and you will have more fun than should be allowed for so little money

Mark is still very sore in the rib area and my shoulder aches a bit but really lucky in the circumstances.

He is also talking about re-building it now so that's a positive:thumbsup:

I had one of these 12 years ago that had been fettled. The 4x4 version. Certainly not cheap to run, and that was when fuel was much cheaper than today. Agricultural, unreliable, noisy but bloody quick. Single figures to the gallon if you thrashed it

S2000 is only 2 seater though...

E46 M3 Cheap?? Depends what you call cheap really but i doubt £12k is "cheap" - Plus running and servicing etc....... I get the impression from G he's talking about more of a run-around that can be abused.... £1000-2000 maybe??
