Astro setup help! - wet & Dry

Hi There

Just wandering if anyone could help me with a setup
for kidderminser or coventry?
Its the 1st time ive used the x6 on astro and i found it undriveable.
The back end just kept kicking up and couldnt find any grip at all.
Tried so many different tyres etc.

Can anyone help?

Have a look to this thread, tons of information and setups. Ellis'setup is probably the best to begin with.

The Ellis UK setup sheet should have been included in the kit, if you follow this exactly you should be pretty much bang on, all the team guys use this setup pretty much everywhere.

One thing to pay special attention to is the weights, a big part of the X-6 squared setup is getting the weight up and getting weights in the correct area of the car to give a good balanced setup.

If you bought the car new then you should have all this info in your kit, otherwise you will find it on the 'Tech' page of the X-factory site or on Petitrc.com as Arno suggests

Bem i spoke to you at the weekend.
I was pitting in with Rich

Plus i run the old x6 with nimh batteries not lipo

The Boyz will correct me if I'm wrong. First, don't ever run 6 cells across the back, you've got to run 4 + 2. Then, get the weight the same as the LiPo set-up and you should be good to go.

I do run the 4-2 setup on my car so no problem there.
What is the general weight people aim for?
Or even the maximum weight it can be?
I will take some weights with me to the next meeting and try some different variations.
I have now also lowered the transmission down to 0.
Will this improve rear end grip or decrease?

Are you guys going to Hereford Sunday? I am going to be there, I'd be happy to look over your cars and give you some pointers

0 tranny height will give you less forward traction but more side bite, this combined with the other parts of the 'Ellis UK' setup works perfectly, I would strongly recomend you copy the 'Ellis UK' setup down to the very last detail and your car will be dialled.

Weight, minimum I run mine is 1670g, maximum 1800g.

If grip is high and the track is flat then I find you can run the car light, otherwise the car is better around 1720-1750g

I can only echo what Craig said wirh regards to copying the set up to the very last detail

I dont own an x6 but i did help set one up for a Lad at club and i followed the Ellis set up to the T and the car was transformed

Going to weight mine over the weekend and see what kind of results i get.
And wont be able to make the oswestry round so next one ill be at is kidderminster again at round 3.

Will be sure to have a walk around and all your helps much appreciated.
I love racing when the cars setup but when its like skating on ice i cant stand it lol

If you are running 4+2 with nimhs then you will need to add weight to the rear if you had no rear end. However I never actually added weight with nimhs it has only been with lipo's but you can massively change the cars handling just by moving some weight around.

If you were running the front link the same as my set up then maybe lower it a little but certainly don't run it to the kit B4 position as it will be terrible on damp astro.

Also if you had the camber extenders on the rear I would take them off if you are struggling for rear end.

The only time I ever remove them is if a track is really slick as they give the car steering and you don't always want that on a damp track.
