New Racing Rule Idea: Maximum Ride Height: VOTE
 

I think the ride height of some cars is too high :thumbdown:, they just ride over the barriers and constantly cut corners, giving them too much of an edge and also causing too many crashes and head on collisions, I think the ride height should be between 5mm and 10mm.

What do you think?

I'm discussing with Russell about club funds available for us to buy another batch of materials so that we can double the height of the track marking. This will have a dramatic affect on drivers trying to cut corners.

It will also make drivers work harder which is a good thing :thumbsup:

Hi, if you vote "NO", please may you let us know the reasons why you think a max height is a bad idea, it's nice to see all points of view ;)

I.e. Does your car perform better if you have a higher ride height?

If this is the case, why would the BRCA have a minimum ride height in the hand book etc.... a discussion is what I'm looking for, the poll was not the correct option as well never know why :(

NO to max ride height :thumbdown:. I do however agree that this is an issue and I accept that I sometimes unwittingly take advantage when I turn in short of the apex.

The reason I say no is that policing a max ride height would be difficult and subjective and people may have to insert spacers in shocks to limit extension and/ or change shock positions that affect the handling or may not be able to due to limited adjustment available on some cars.

Propose that we need to improve (raise the height of) the circuit mark out barriers as Scott suggests. This will also solve the problem for when people get shunted, so that they are not knocked onto the other side of the track in the path of other cars.....

Would rope be a solution? This could still be taped down but would also be easier to lay out. May be too bulky for storage though and not sure on cost....

why not dock them laps if they intentionally cut corners.

if they want to just mess around and smash into eachother send them out into the carpark and leave the racing inside.

i have said no to a maximum ride height as like Paul has said suspension set ups may have to be changed which dont suit individual cars. Although i dont agree with people gaining significant advantages by jumping over the track. If we are to higher the barrirers as we tried on Friday night,i dont see the maximum ride height problem will be an issue any longer. Cheers Andy

ride hight wont be the issue, if you drop it to the floor the hight of the wheels will get the cars over a low marker,because even with ride hight lowered you still get the same amount of distance because of wheel droop.change the track markers is the only way,

Lucas, I think ride height is not the answer. We shall, when funds are available, be buying more track marking material so that we can double the height of the track edging we currently have.

To be honest, a car with a lower ride height will actually drive better around the track than one which is much higher, as was shown when I got you to lower yours down to 5mm. The higher track egding will stop a lot of the problems.

Rope is not a good solution, will damage the cars far more than what we have now, plus it's too much hassle laying out. Used rope in the past, OK for buggys but not great for saloons.

OK, looking at the arguments, I think you are right it's not the answer, but at least we got a disscussion going, it's the higher barriers then so the cars can't physically go over no matter what ride height :thumbsup:
