PC Experts needed (Part2)
So i now have a graphics card installed in my PC thanks to a guy at work, it's pretty old but he thought it should run Championship Manager ok!
The Card is: Chip Type: 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee Memory Size: 16MB Adapter String: 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee Board Bios Information: VGA BIOS - Version 1.00.03-E T I unfortunately still get the following message when the game starts to load: "Direct3D Failed to initialise - Please ensure you have a Direct3D compatible card and Driver. The game cannot continue and must close" |
I think the 3DFX is hugely hugely old - the company went bust years ago.
|
Yeah i reckon it's probably 8 years old or so..... The guy at work thought it would probably do a good enough job to run the game but i think i need an XP driver for it??
|
Several versions of DirectX have been and gone since the last Banshee driver was written.
Most on-board motherboard graphics chips would greatly outperform it these days. |
Unfortunately not the one in my machine as it was really supposed to just be an office type PC i guess :-( There's no proper grahpics card as such - Just thought this would allow the game to run, but if there's not any drivers for it i don't suppose there's any chance

I used to have a couple of 3DFX cards before they were graphics cards - they just did the 3D stuff and sat alongside the existing graphics card. was a bit nuts. The card is 11 years old apparently and I'm pretty confident it would have no chance of running a game from 8 years ago, never mind one from today. Sorry chief! :(

lol, no worries - thanks for the help, saves me spending hours searching for something that won't exist :-)
The frustrating thing is the 3d mode in game can be turned off once you get in anyway so this was just to try and get the game to start up anyway. Never mind, thanks again! |
