Problems with the b4 diff

Hey guys,

I have some problems with my diff and i hope u can help me ;)

I had rebuild the diff and replaced the diff rings and Bushings. The diff balls are only one race old - i changed the balls to ceramic diff balls.

I had build the diff like shown in the manual, but if i turn one wheel it doesn't feel smooth - it's like feeling the diff balls.

So has anyone an idea what i'm doing wrong? is it wrong to close the diff and then to open the diff an 1/8 turn?

hope u can help me ;)

Did you replace the thrust race? Very important for a smooth diff.

An obvious one i know but use plenty of diff lube.:)

Hey guys,

Thanks for ur help....

@ sosidge: yes, i had replaced the thrust washers - the balls are the older one

@ NeilD: i think i had use enough diff lube, but i will rebuild the diff again - i'm hoping it will work after it -.-

could you have overtightened the diff and crushed the thrust balls?iv done this myself a few times.have since started gradualy tightening the diff to the level i want rather than going to (what i thought was) fully tight and backing it of

Glad you've got it sorted.:)

By the way, you should always replace balls and washers at the same time. If either is worn then that will affect the diff's action.
