tyre cleaners
What tyre cleaners do you use.
I have been using brake cleaner but have been told it damages the rubber so im looking to try some thing else. |
i have heared that you can use chewing gum remover
|
any rubber tyre cleanser, is a degreaser, and leave no residue... so they are all probably a derivative of brake cleaner
|
Brake Cleaner/Motor Spray is mostly used.....some people use MM tyre cleaner....all depends on the track and whether indoors or outdoors.
|
i just use some tyre-additive on a swipe: cleans the tyres very good, but is offcourse a costly solution.
SOmething else that functions good is Dreft (a kind of Dish wash soap) with a bit of water. I've been told, it's so good because it is a degreaser (duh) but some of the components in it also soften the tire a bit. Brake-cleaner DOES brakes down the tire in a certain degree. It is more then a degreaser. |
WD 40 cheap and cheerful, :woot:

I usually just spray a bit of brake cleaner onto a tissue then wipe the tyre with that, other people at my local TC club use WD40 or put additive on then wipe it off.

Between races - sweep tyre cleaner and refresher or Jack the Grippa, wipe on wipe off with a j-cloth before applying additive + baking.
Day before racing - soak with washing up liquid, or with sweep tyre refresher. Depends on conditions, but I find the sweep stuff can be good if baked in with tyre warmers instead of additive. FYI, I use a small amount of blue factor additive, before baking with tyre warmers. |
much more speed cleaner 3 between rounds.
additive ur tyres and store them in a zip lock plastic bag 1week before the meeting, when u come to use them at the meeting they will be super soft, ideal for rug racers cause the track is cold in the morning giving u the early advantage. |
i spray wd40 on a spot of a towel and wipe it on the tyres then leave it for about 10mins to dry then put wheels back on the car and apply additive.
