To view DVD's, or burn DVD's?

If burning...
Wifey uses a programme called Cusscuss, or something like that, to burn DVD's with great results.
Once the hospital decide shes ill enough to be discharged (grr..) ill ask her for you.

Doesnt Windows Media Player allow you to play DVD's??

blue_pinky 10-09-2009 09:22 AM

Only if you have a decoder plugin for it! And they are not usually free! However some/most new PC's come with a dvd decoder in the software bundle though.

vlc is free one to download, plays pretty much all the dodgy downloaded stuff too

blue_pinky 10-09-2009 09:34 AM

Should have said before, I ditched mediaplayer for VLC a while back too as it is free and is just a lightweight media player that seems to work. +1 for VLC

Answer-RC-Pete 10-09-2009 09:52 AM

Northy 10-09-2009 10:22 AM

Download the latest version of VLC plays pretty much anything too

I think practically everything on my mac plays a dvd if I want it to. quicktime, VLC or dvd player. I'm pretty sure WMP always has done on my pc too.

Northy 10-09-2009 04:26 PM

Just downloaded and tried the latest VLC player. Audio stutters and video breaks up when I play a DVD.

Any other suggestions?

I used DVD X Player for 14 days on the same PC with no problems :(

Do you want Power DVD ? if so ill upload to my webspace and send you a link via PM

Rich D 10-09-2009 04:38 PM

Failing that, download and install the Codec pack for WMP.

http://www.xpcodecpack.com/

I also use FFD Show and Xvid decoders. My WMP plays anything i throw at it but tbh i cant remember which i installed first as i set it all up a long time ago.

install the Codec pack first then the others int he order i have typed them.

Failing that, PM me if you want a fully working version of Power DVD 6
