Soil surface - any tips for maintenance?
 

We've got track with loose soil surface and it always ends up broken due to erosion and is hard to drive because of loads of dust.
What do you recommend to do with this kind of surface?
While I was searching for something for motocross tracks - I found 2 products that maybe would be solution but I didn't find anyone selling them in middle europe.

I'm sure someone will come along and correct or add to what I'm going to say, but if i remember right its sugar and water mixed with the dust from the surface,

We started using sugar water on our onroad track.
Problem I see is that sugar is easily washed by rain.
Dustless and Soiltac are supposed to resist rain.

If I remember correctly, I read a couple of years back that NaHCl (sodium hydrochloride) is used in America to keep dirt roads dust-free. They also use it on RC-tracks.

Don't confuse it with sodium hypochlorite, which is basically bleach for swimming pools!

I still will have to find some informations about NaHCl because I haven't found anything yet - every link leads to NaOCl

This is true, they do it in the US, they sprinkle it on at night and it soaks into the dirt, then in the morning you end up with a nice blue or black groove. It obviously depends on your dirt/clay as well ;)

The main thing is the prep of the track it needs to be rolled when damp this binds the soil we use a roller and whacker plate. Jumps are made as smooth as possible using trowels and plenty of water.

After that the watering of the track is the main thing this is trial and error
if out side because of the wether, temp, rain ect. Keep sweeping the track as this helps too.

The additive will only help these things it will not make a smooth surface it
will help keep it.
