Xray T2009 Setup for low traction polished wood floor?

Anyone got a good setup for Xray T2009:

- polished wood floors low traction
- indoor track small mixed and leaning toward technical
- using control tyres: 20mm schumacher yellow mini pins on 20mm wheels
- shock spring seem too loose when lowering for a 5mm ride height, can I just change shock position?
- should the diff be looser? When I hold one wheel and the spur should the opposite turn or be very hard to turn?
- I've got a 24 pinion on an 84 spur for a 13.5 LRP eraser giving about 5:95. LRP recommend 6:00
- Oh and I'm running ball diffs front and back.
- Setup for LRP SXX TC Spec, my settings: 1,4,1,1.
- back end fish tails on corner exit too.... (is this called oversteer?)

any thoughts and advice?

Try a spool in the front and are you running the R9 body in the pic.
I had over steer problems with that body, my driving style did not get on with it. now race using dodge status and mazda 6 and getting on well.

Oh, I've been told by numerous people to use a front ball diff as it's more forgiving when learning how to drive. Minimise problems during an impact etc...

t2 handling

front diff on a small technical carpet circuit at DMS is better for me. Ive been using the new black roll centre holders at the back which lowers the rear roll centre calming the rear end which tends to be a bit frisky. Ive got thin roll bars too , perhaps you could try taking them off. HPI springs work better for me too ( silver/ gold). r9 shell is a complete no,no! mazda speed 6 is best for balance no doubt .hope this helps, Phil.

I have the R9-R and yes I have heard bad things about them, I'm too new to work out why, so any illumination would be great>>> on the other hand: Which is best from below?

- Mazda Speed 6 Clear Body for 190mm
- Mazda 6 Clear Body for 190mm
- Dodge Stratus 3.0 All-Purpose Clear Body for 190mm
- DNAČ Clear Body for 190mm
- DNAč Clear Body for 190mm
- LTCR (Rubber) Clear Body for 190mm

mini pins

Have to say not run with mini pins for years, do you cut outside row off the front ? in my experience it pays to follow the pace setters set ups re tyres even if they are running different chassis. r9 might be ok given a balanced tyre set up.

Hi,

I've only driven the car 7 times, actually 7 times (35 mins) is my total experience in TC class :)

Tyres are club control, so have to use them........

......and no I don't cut off anything from the tyres, but I think this would then modify control tyres and wouldn't be fair.

When, after weeks of changing every setting, you get tired of fighting the oversteer on the XRAY, get a TA-05. Best slippy floor car for "normal" drivers I have seen.

anyone?

I ran R9 on slipperly floor then straight out again with Mazda 6 and difference is unreal, I can tell you my setup for slippery floor but if it work for your xray i dont know!

we run indoors on a polished wooden floor over the winter, ive found the best and most consistent to be the stratus 3 all-purpose,i have tried the mazda 6 and its not bad just found it could be a bit twitchy.have seen others use the dna2 and it looked good, but have no personnel experience of it.hope this helps

lochness42 05-09-2009 10:44 PM

Can you put together your current setup? I'll try to recommend you some adjustments then.

lochness42 05-09-2009 10:50 PM

Regarding shells - Mazda 6 and Speed 6 are proven shells for carpet and asphalt racing.
I had R9-F and it was too twitchy. I'm going to try LTC-R soon (I have to paint it :D).
DNA shells were designed for foam cars and they have less downforce because foams generate enough grip so I belive that's no way to go as you need more downforce to generate grip.

Stratus should be most neutral shell from those you've got on the list.

Personally I've got only experience from low grip carpet and asphalt - not polished floor - I also belive there isn't any shell designed for such purpose.

I Gave him Schumacher Mi4 13.5 setup for slippery floor for base settings we all run these settings. if you run new tyres after about a run/ 2 runs it feels like its on rails.

lochness42 06-09-2009 06:54 AM

Depends on what from your setup you've adviced him.
I've got both cars and I've got them set up differently for same races.

CYCLONE-JOE 09-09-2009 08:27 PM

my cyclone rear just has a mind of its own i have no idea why just on the corners enterv the corner no slip exit with small throttle 360 spin on another corner full out nothink and the corners the same almost

lochness42 09-09-2009 10:34 PM

are they both left turns or right turns.
