As one of the Designers on this project, I'd like to hear your comments. Just putting it out there for debate.
Cheers.

You forgot the windscreen...

burgie 22-08-2009 08:00 AM

doesn't make me want to go and buy one - it would look so much better with a windscreen of some description too.

Alfonzo 23-08-2009 06:12 PM

I like it. Reminds me of some of the old classic 2 seater race cars, old MG's and the like. They frequently had no windscreen, or a very small one.

As a concept, it doesn't really look like there was much to do? Take a standard MX5, chop top, new interior, done.:bored:

Doesn't really do anything for me as it looks too similar to the current MX-5. It would have generated more interest if it was promoted as a hardcore track day concept, instead of an impractical "lightweight concept"....

No offence to my fellow ooplers but I think there are more quantifiable methods of getting feedback on Mazda designs that asking us!

I don't think a speedster would sell as as a factory option in the UK market but the design looks neat.

I've got a mk1 mx5, it's a great drive. I can imagine a speedster on track, but on the road? I'm not sure it's for me...

it might also be worth bearing in mind that we don't really have a summer in most parts of the uk anymore....

Alfonzo 25-08-2009 08:18 AM

How true is that! Here in Shropshire the last few summers have been near none existent :thumbdown:

Thanks for all the comments guys, there was no 'customer-clinic' approarch intended here, just simply wanted to get some first impressions and figured some here might take an interest in such kind of Design study.

Totally get the UK summer bit  Yeah, I guess we had the the rest of Europe in mind when we did this ! Still, there was enough Renault Spiders to form a club in the UK (which was similarly without screen).
The final showcar will have a much bigger impact than the images suggest, we have done far more changes than the sketches show.
The car is also very balsy to drive.

All comments welcome. Thanks for the interest guys !
