TRF511 2009 euros winning setup

Here's the winning setup from the 2009 Euros. This is Hupos setup - which is the same for the other guys cars including eventual winner Marc Rheinard, since hupo setup all the cars like his.

Man, that setup sheet sucks - I need to design a new one with all the options on there

never mind... I think they guys also ran 12 degree alloy front hub carriers. Hupo ran the new flex topdecks but the other guys ran normal. All the drivers ran the new grey ball cups. Think that's about it.

Jimmy , what kind of inserts did they used?.. Any idea of the shock lengths ( limiters or not and how much)

Great report by the way.... sorry SUPER EXCELLENT report :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Do you have also HUPO's 2WD set-up ?

Cheers

I don't know what he settled on, he had some trishbits and some edit foams - not sure what the guys ended up with.
Actually, I do have the winning B4 setup also: using Tamiya shocks and Trishbits hopups.

What springs are they using? My Tamiya option springs are all white in colour but the sheets above imply that "Tam" springs are available in actual colours to match their strength... the all white scheme is really, really dumb IMHO.

Dyna 21-08-2009 11:40 AM

The 3 grades of Tamiya springs are all white, but have either Red, Yellow or Blue dabs of paint on the tops of them. Hard to see, especially if they have rubbed off. I use permanant marker pens to mark them better.

DaveG28 21-08-2009 01:44 PM

Wow, really surprised at how hard they ran springs wise actually, how much lead were they running, any idea Jimmy?

jimmy 21-08-2009 01:50 PM

I didn't see any - but I'll have a look at the photos I got

tires

What kind of tires they used in the Euro?
I thought Schumacher, but they wrote HA.
Guy.

Jimmy, could you post the photo's of the 3 TRF cars

And is the tech chart available of the 4WD A final?

suparajicon 27-08-2009 09:15 PM

Does any one knows which are those white ball studs Hupo was using ?I wonder if it's Losi's or RPM ones. I would like to try.

Just out of interest! these setup`s are the drivers setup`s for the designed course/track! so how would they benefit anyone else? I understand the fixtures and fittings side but buggy setup is surely from testing the track / surface and setup so the buggy handles well for its enviroment/bumps/ramps/camber etc... is this just an interest thing or am i missing something?

<<<< total boon! Andy ;)

Helps anyone going to race at THAT track of course - and generally applies to similar high grip bumpy tracks. If you're racing on a smooth dirt track in the USA then there's very little interest - I'll be copying this setup to try it that's for sure.:thumbsup:

Like Jimmy said, on a similar track, it would get you in the ball park, setup wise, but if it isn't a similar type of track, just a curiosity thing.

Does it matter to you anyway? from what i hear you would have to put the theory in reverse???

A little (well ok quite plump) bird tells me you tend to drive the wrong way around tracks anyhow!!!!!! :p

Does anyone know what motor timing and ESC profile Hupo uses?

Chris 21-09-2009 08:46 PM

Does anyone have info about the shocks the TRF guys used @ the euros?

-how many o-rings? (I know Jilles used 2 blue o-rings in every shock, but he was not at the euros;))
-blue, clear or red o-rings?
-limiters front and rear?
-machined pistons or molded?

DaveG28 04-10-2009 05:05 PM

As a note to anyone trying this setup, you either need to do it with the rear diff low (not high as in the manual) or add several mm of limiters to the rear shocks above the kit manual limiter, I did a cvd pin, outdrive and scratched all the bulkheads at the back today finding that out!!

B44&501xRacerEX 27-01-2010 05:43 PM

Hum, I put new parts on my 501x getting it ready for next months race.
However I'm uncertain if Hupo's 511 setup will work on my car.
Jimmy do you happen to have his old 501 setup? I need a setup for high traction clay.
I tried 35 wt in the front and 25 wt in the rear and that worked ok. But I'm thinking 35wt all 4 corners would be even better.
I have been using associated shock oil the clear kind.
