Schumacher Cat3000

Can someone give me some general tips about the car (apart from the diff's are poo and so are the shocks)

Main thing I need is the internal ratio.

MattW 23-03-2007 10:41 PM

The diffs are sweet, but maybe you have a point about the shocks. They aren't the best, but certainly not the worst either.

Internal ratio is 2:1. I ran one for years, so know a little about it.

I always find the diffs thrust bearings are the weak spot, plus such afiddle getting them out.

Do you know what AE shocks go on, and any tips??

MattW 24-03-2007 07:59 PM

So replace the thrust bearing!!! I think the latest tungsten one from thr touring cars should fit!!

AE shocks - depends which brackets you have. To be honest, i ran AE shocks with stood up (long/med) brackets, but didnt' with the shorter brackets that everyone ran over here. I did try them, and they felt better, but i'm not convinced the car was as good.

Tips? depends what you want to know!! can't think of any obvious problems off the top of my head.

On previous Cats (which I had) we put Losi thrusts into the diffs. But I have a feeling the size changed.

As for the shocks, put MIP shafts in and either Losi or AE pistons and they work a treat. I used to use black Losi pistons front and rear on an EC.

mine has the short towers fitted, with laydown shocks, I think short and medium, not sure.

MattW 24-03-2007 10:54 PM

Yeah sounds like that is Short and Medium. If you want to run AE - you need B4 fronts, but then the B4 front body with the rear shaft!!! I ran the car like this for a while.

Like Chris - i used MIP/Losi shafts with usually Losi pistons in the 3000 but Associated in the 2000!!!

DCM 24-03-2007 11:15 PM

which worked the best, and can you use AE pistons on the Losi shock shafts, also, what length shafts?

MattW 25-03-2007 07:34 PM

I used to use either MIIP shafts - or Losi Tin Coated shafts (they are basically the same - MIP are cheaper!) Using 0.6 front and 0.9 rear.

You can use either Losi or AE pistons. You can use std pistons - but you need to shim them a little.

where do I get them from Matt?

Had a whizz round with it today, indoor track, snapped a front wishbone, lol.

MattW 26-03-2007 08:36 PM

I haven't tried to get any in a couple of years - so no idea. I would guess that the "normal" off rd stockists should have them, as i think they are a fairly std Losi size.

cheers Matt.

You wouldn't have some setup sheets filled in would you, by any chance?

MattW 27-03-2007 07:06 PM

possibly. Anything specific?
