To Glue or Not to Glue Tyres?
On Xray T2'009:
I'm using my club control wheel/tyre setup of schumacher 20mm wheels/ 20mm mini pin tyres. Do they need to be glued if using on indoor school hall type hard polished surface with 13.5 brushless? |
you sure do. To see what happens if you don't, mark the relative position of the wheels and tyres, then run a heat. See how the tyre moves on the rim. You may also get a tyre partially off a rim. When you do glue, you'll only need a couple of spots.

TY, for help: They seem perfect unglued :)
they might be ok unglued , but if you hear your car making what i like to think sounds like a lightsaber from star wars noise when you go round corners then that is the tyre spinning round on the rim and they will probably need glueing
Glue then you know they wont fall off in the race
Ok, you guys have convinced me, I'm being lazy. I'll glue them :0
 just use a few spots then if your tight like me you can re-use the rims :p
there's no need to glue them with a 13.5 motor. If you're putting in a quicker motor, then maybe, but definitely not with a 13.5
Lucas, if you remember I was running unglued a few weeks ago and lost the A Final due to the rear coming off (inwards) causing the car to drive like a crab in the last few laps. I've since glued them now and no problem since, and that's running 13.5 in my 008 Xray.
I guess it depends how hard you are on the car. My minipins have only lasted 4-5 meetings, yet Cory's set still look good as new. You might get away with it as the 009 is new to you, but I would suggest you glue them before the championship starts in 4 weeks. Regards Scott www.bedsrcmcc.co.uk |
