VW Indicators Blowing Fuses
any VW or auto electricains out there that could help?
Replace the hazard relay back June 2008 with part from VW specialist Indicators failed again this morning both left & right turn and also hazards have stopped working Located 10 & 15 amp fuses and replaced both Tried right turn and it worked http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/i...ons/icon14.gif Tried left turn and blew a 10 amp fusehttp://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/i...ons/icon13.gif Tried hazards and blew 15 amp fusehttp://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/i...cons/icon8.gif Any ideas on what could be causing the failures? |
Have you checked the holder in which the bulb fits in to? They can sometimes corrode and cause a dead short.
Failing that check the wiring beyond that for any shorts. Or a last option is check behind the fusebox again for a short. |

Sounds more like a dodgy relay to me. Take the bulbs out and try it, do the fuses still blow? If so I'd suspect the relay. Apart from being a VW, what car is it?

going to try this from VW forum as I have the spare switch http://www.passatworld.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=271515 |
Might get a good reply if you ask on a VW forum. Bound to be someone on there who could give you a clue within the hour

Doubt its relay as there single pole, switch determines which side gets signal, hazerd switch feeds both sides. Fitted any bulbs recently? Remove left side bulbs (side that blew) replace fuse and switch on, if pops wiring fault, if no pop add a bulb at a time and see when it pops. |
