Futaba 3GR 2.4GHz FASST problem

I bought a 3GR 2.4GHz radio earlier in the year for the convenience of 2.4 and to stop me losing control of my E-Revo.

On three occasions now though it has locked up. It's happened when bashing or racing and with different receivers. It's not the temperature issue that affected some of the Futaba 2.4GHz FASST stuff, or battery related, it's something else. Basically the steering freezes at wherever it was and the throttle so far has gone to neutral, I don't know if that's just chance though. Receiver still shows solid green light which is supposed to indicate good connection. Without touching the car, control comes back if I turn the transmitter off then on again.

I thought I must have a fault and sent it to Ripmax, they said no fault found and returned it. Until recently no one else at the club had experienced it, then a friend had it happen on their 3GR, so maybe there is a FASST problem. It's not exactly happened frequently, but it's maybe only a matter of time before it happens at a really bad time. Anybody else found this on the Futaba 3GR or the module based FASST conversions?

I had a similar problem to this and found it was caused by the antenna wire from the receiver grounding out on an aluminium antenna mount. It had exactly the same effect, steering locked and throttle went to neutral. Any chance it could be that?

I used 2 pieces of tape under my reciever for extra insulation from the chassis, and used a length of heatshrink just big enough to slide over the aerial wire.
