i think either a 17 or 18 tooth pinion with standard spur is about right buddy

5.5 bonded gearing

have try 17,19, 20 pinions and it is still doing about 5to 6 laps and shutting down with both motor an esc hot my 6.5 sinted runs at 84/26 and is fine for the 5.5 bonded should it be more like 84/23.
or is 17 wright an something is wrong

i run an 18 on my 4.5 with no issues ;)

16 or 17t pinion on 81t spur would be about right for a bonded 5.5

there is no correct gearing it all depend on track size driving style etc etc what is everybody else running

no matter what track size or my driving style if geared right it should do more than 6 25second laps before overheating.surely

that sounds like more of a electics issue rather than a gearing issue.

Hey Pizzaman, It's worth dropping the pinion off and checking that the drive train is all running free too. You may have already done this, so just a suggestion along side finding a base setting for your gearing.
