spares and q's for db01
 

hi guys, i was wondering what are the best spares to have for a durga... also what spur and pinion should i run for a 10.5t bl setup, what shock oil i should use for the hop up ones, and the final q, what mm hex screws would i need, and what would be a decent screwdriver to use em with.

1: IMO, defo get a few spare diff pulley wheels, wishbones, the odd hub and maybe a rear shock tower, I'm only surmising as since I've broken nowt 'cept pulleys and shredded a couple of belts, though I am using 5.5 :lol:

2: Stick with stock spur for now, pinion will depend where you're racing, cells etc, but at a rough guess, start with an 18 or something, trial and error.

3: This again depends on what surface, you are running on, does it have jumps? is it high grip? etc.

Finally: M3 capheads would be best for you me thinks, for these you'll need a 2.5 hex driver, if you go for normal button heads though, these use a 2mm hex driver. happy screwing.

for the shock oil, could you reccomened me some for certain surfaces... cause ima do a variaty of tracks so ill just buy the ones i need :) also, im going to use a lipo, it has a few jumps (i think) so, id rather buy like 2 pinions rather than one...

rear hubs, front hubs and steering knuckles, front wishbones, pair of towers. Also, get a spare pair of front hexes too.

Build the rear diff with the 501X diff halves and all should be well, just have a spare pulley, just in case. And keep an eye of belt tension.

Settings, kit shock positions, 1.2mm pistons up front, 1.3mm pistons in the rear. If you are running NiMH cells, 35wt front, 30wt rear, a light LiPo, change it to 30/25

Tonys screws do a kit for the Durga - I'd highly recommend it. Most of those will use a 2mm hex driver - the cheap HUDY ones are the best I've used, the ones with the plastic handles.

Spares - the usual stuff is good to have, front and rear wishbones, hubs etc. I've broken a front and a rear on the durga - generally speaking the front is especially tough, and the rear in my experience is only slightly weaker. Sometimes the inner rear wishbone can break in a big roll - but I've only done about three myself in a couple of years racing.

I never broke a shock tower - but good to have as a backup.

Definitely get a 37t pulley as a spare - along with centre pulleys and a belt or two. I dont remember if I ever really had a break on the Durga but if you don't build things properly or something comes loose and you race without checking then it can go bad quickly.

Get some shims and shim out the front and particularly rear suspension to remove the slop on the inner hinge pins. If you do this it'll stop the hinge pins popping out in a big crash and losing some vital parts - killing your race day!
You don't need loads of fancy bits of metal on the car to make it strong - I never even had CVD's on my car and it was brilliant.

yeah, im getting the alu suspention tower f/r cause carbons quite expensive, from experiance iv broken those really small plastic bits which hold a rod in place, so im buying blu alu suspention mount, ok, so ill buy all that.. any shock oil youd reccomend also, im getting the hopup shocks... do they come with enough shims??

The alloy suspension holders are a good buy, any other alloy bit, is a bad idea.

I have posted shock oils above, you will also need to limit the rear shocks.

I went for alloy suspension mounts after one of the rear pins popped out, I think the rear plastic brace bends enough to let it pop out - even with it shimmed up nicely. Or maybe I hit it particularly hard?

I also broke a front wishbone, again I think I was a bit too rough with it ;-)

I've got spares now, from Fusion.
