X-Factory to launch new

Short Course Truck

well I can dream but one day maybe :D

Darren Boyle 28-07-2009 11:06 AM

Glen, I can assure you that there are NO plans for a release of a short course truck at present.

One of the US team guys did knock one up for their recent nationals and it went very well too, but the costs and time invloved will detract us from other on-going projects that are far more important at the moment sadly.

The current sense on these is all about keeping them standard and with minimal mods and an "X" converted truck will only ever be made to drastically improve performance and handling - which kind of goes against how everyone wants to race them at present (box stock etc). Some of the ROAR rules for the USA dont allow the "conversion" at all since it is not deemed as a "kit" but more of an "upgrade".

I could try and think up some stuff we haven't thought of, but that would just be ironic wouldn't it?

Plus an RC bike already has it's motor in the 'right' place!

Yup, I was the one who built the XFactory X-60SC. Here's a couple of pics of it

(from RCUniverse Nats pics):

I pretty much built it to see if it could be done. Thats what I like to do. Alex did really well at Nats with it. It was the fastest truck out there. ROAR had no problems at all with it. In fact, at least one of the competition tried to say it shouldn't be allowed because it wasn't a production kit and ROAR basically told them to sit down. They liked the truck.

As Darren said, it'll probably never get in to production. The money to kit it needs to go to other projects right now.

SpeedyDad can you tell me what size spur and shaft was it cause the truck look like it has a big spur and that what i want my x-60 to have please reply

Paul_Sinclair 30-07-2009 06:54 PM

Its a standard X Factory 5001 Transmission and rear chassis-half, so I imagine it is only able to fit the same spurs, namely AE's 72, 75, 78, or 81.

The motor plate in the truck is out of carbon fiber, and thus black.

SpeedyDad 30-07-2009 07:17 PM

We were using a 75t spur as the truck was being set up for a 17.5 brushless for Nats. Like Paul said, what you are probably seeing is the carbon fiber motor plate.
