I agree with BIGRED get the stegger front brace will save you alot of cash later on :D
Apart from that save you pennies.

I would get the med flex wishbones thats about it really.

Whats the spur gear mod???? :eh?:

bigred5765 25-07-2009 08:54 PM

the std ones are fine, some say they melt never had the problem yet but we don't run a loose slipper,to do the mod you use a losi or ae one and open out the center to fit

DAVIDZX5 25-07-2009 08:54 PM

Some people run the B4 spur and slipper pads, all you need to do is ream the hole out to make it fit over the bearing. I run this mod and never had a problem.

DAVIDZX5 25-07-2009 08:56 PM

only done this mod as i've melted and stripped a few schumacher spurs.

discostu 25-07-2009 09:10 PM

you are all wrong the mod im talking about is the grub screw and lock nut that replaces the button head screw that holds the spur plate on so when you strip a spur you can get the spur gear off easily rather than take the slipper clutch apart.

you can just about see the mod in this pic

stu

bigred5765 25-07-2009 09:37 PM

ahh you mean the layshaft mod,?remove the std screw insert a threaded bar (locktite in)let it set then use a nut and washer to hold on the spur, not a must just makes it easier to remove the spur,

Ran it for the first time today on a high grip astro turf track and the turn in seemed a bit too much.. Front one way help with this?

What's this stagger brace?

Some also mentioned the one way main diff?

Had a mare with it to start with so took my XXCR and banked an ok time. Then the Cat SX ran better and I should be able to go quicker than my XXCR

stegger 26-07-2009 02:21 PM

A front one-way would give you more off power steering, a lot of people run the diff up front and run the one-way pulley with the pin in or out depending on what you want the car to do. As you have found i didn't like the front one-way :o
The "STEGGER" brace as some are calling it :lol: see the link here;

PM me for details :)

Interesting. I'll looking into one of these I think.

bigred5765 26-07-2009 04:19 PM

Cool, I'll look into that. How will it change the car? (Sorry only ever raced 2WD except one season with a Procat)

bigred5765 26-07-2009 04:31 PM

more of power steering, only rear wheels break so hand break turns if needed

mikeyscott 28-07-2009 03:38 PM

Think I'll run it standard for a bit first

mikeyscott 09-08-2009 03:06 PM

Had another run this week and enjoyed it very much. Putting the Medium flex wishbones etc on. Otherwise the only thing I have changed is the springs (blue fronts)

Need to re-loctite everything as screws kept coming loose (so much for a phil booth build). May consider Titanium screws :)

After so big rolls today etc. I think I'll prob order the brace.
