ooooooo new toy arrived the other day

my new nikon SB 800 flashgun arrived yesterday and jesus what a piece of kit it is i never realised how many functions it had.

all i need to do now is find out how everything works

JIMMY any advice??

hehe, I don't have the sb800 but I know its a nice bit of kit. One thing I really like using is a diffuser on the flash. Stofen make a plastic diffuser which throws the light around a lot better and makes for some really nice flash shots.

it comes with a diffuser in the kit plus the stand for when the flash is fired remotely and the quick recycle 5th battery holder.

i just really need to figure it out there is just a mass of settings but i will get there though.

you still using the nikon jimmy o rhave you switched to cannon?

What camera do you have Simon?

jimmy 15-03-2007 04:54 PM

I am greedy and have both ;)
I have used the remote flash feature on a borrowed sb600 - and its great! I would need to pay a lot to get a similar feature on a canon I think.
I mainly bought my flash to use outdoors in sunlight to add some fill flash and create possibly some cooler photos. I still need practice with it though.
I forgot the sb800 came with a diffuser, its the 600 that doesn't - especially for static shots it makes for a nice shot without the harsh flash hilights.
