Building a 1:8 offroad track and I need advice
Helo everyone.
We are building a new local track for 1:8 buggys in Slovenia (Europe). It's almost done, only jumps are missing. I'm asking you to look at attached track plan and tell me what do you thing. If the jumps are positioned wright, if they are to big (small), some other proposals ... Some pics of unfinished track: http://www.file.si/files/5ay9w2ujfupmnbgluuyy_thumb.jpg http://www.file.si/files/6aap4r61gnqwt1cmymue_thumb.jpg http://www.file.si/files/01pro65d16t8lvfijchy_thumb.jpg http://www.file.si/files/a07zv3tt8hgdehyy7yyc_thumb.jpg http://www.file.si/files/sp1bp3w4a61d63wsp0yv_thumb.jpg Attached track plan: http://file.si/file/174DRVA_julij_09.pdf (enter code (koda) and click save file (Prenesi datoteka!)) I worry about the space befor first jump and after second jump on back-straight. Should it be more space for takeoff or for landing? I don't know if 6 m for takeoff and 4 m for breaking into curve will be enough? Maybe 5 m / 5 m? Can someone give me a good advice about positioning jumps, where on straights? Attached pictures of full track and back-straight plan: http://www.file.si/files/flh29new19gyg951jdjw_thumb.png Thanks for helping. Best regards, Chipo |
Track looks really good mate! Will you be putting some sort of " borders " on the inside/outside. As it looks now corner cutting will be easy :eh?:

we have built 2 tracks now and find that if you have to much runn up you need a larger landing area alot of it also comes down to the angle of the jumps its a bit trial and error until you work out which is right for your sufrace /drivers also look at the faces of the jumps as they will wear quickly

That back straight is a long way from the rostrum, I would rig up some temporary jumps and try them out you might find it a bit too far away to judge them.
Looks like a nice job so far. |
I like the layout but it looks really flat? were used to quite bumpy tracks in the uk! just my thoughts? :p:p

I would also like to know how to fix those Land drain coils to ground? Quote:

As you can see from our track plan the only place for a bigger jumps can be on back-straight. Many of you would say that Jumps are better positioned closer to the Rostrum.
I have idea to make a back-straight wider (from 5 m to 6 m) and give it a slope (maybe 3°), but don't know how is with jumping on a straight with added slope? Here is how a back-straight would look from a rostrum if: wide: 5 m slope: 0° http://www.file.si/files/lrnrt3ncrnjvwf5trn7q_thumb.jpg wide: 6 m slope: 3° http://www.file.si/files/2d11tx4jyihhgo2dpa70_thumb.jpg Is that a good idea or not? I think for starters you could try some kickers on some of the "almost straight" sections between turns, this could help you gauge as to weather bigger jumps will fit.
Expect also to have to "move" sections of the track about, if a certain section doesn't work because of a corner or where you want a jump, then be prepared to get busy with the shovels and wheelbarrow. Oh yeah, and your English is ok too:thumbsup:, better than some the native English who post on here :o |
Hello everyone and thanks for helpping me.
So we came to the conclusions to: a.) widen the back-straight from 5 m to 6 m and give it a slope of 3° (that means 30 cm height difference at 6 m), b.) build the jumps and slopes (same as on attached track plan), c.) rise the rostrum from 2 m to 4 m. Here is a link to picture of our finalized track plan: http://www.file.si/files/tis5v8dc0sbi1hk1koik.jpg We have ordered 300 m3 of earth and will be on track at the end of this week, so the works should start next weekend. Thanks again, Chipo |
Hello.
Now we got the 300 m3 of earth and the works will begin this weekend. Here is our Time plan FRIDAY http://www.manchesterbmx.co.uk/image...d-straight.jpg marking with poles NEXT WEEK http://nakup.pikapolonica.com/img/27...-z-orodjem.jpg fine works Here are some new aerial views of track (on the left side of the track you can see 300 m3 of earth) http://www.file.si/files/g9r0kjnmtsp7e1l0tfvt_thumb.jpg http://www.file.si/files/c2ys0bos8qukb0f7hvwh_thumb.jpg http://www.file.si/files/fid8xkqpakwbqnvk50yd_thumb.jpg Here is a last track plan http://file.si/file/105DRVA_julij_EN.pdf (enter code (koda) and click save file (Prenesi datoteka!)) We are still not 100% sure, how to position the back-straight jumps. In the last track plan, jumps G and H are positioned so, that before jump G is 6 m of straight space, between jumps is 8 m of space and after landing we have 4 m of straight. Are those proportions (6m/8m/4m) good, or should they be 5m/8m/5m or maybe 8m/8m/2m? Same doubts we have with jumps C and H. Thanks for helping. Greetings, Chipo |
