4WD for winter
Contemplating a 4WD car for winter racing for when it's wet and horrible, what do people recommend? I'm wanting to stick with my stick LIPOs and the odd set of NIMHs.
I know it's summer (is it with this weather) but just want to get the base research done etc. |
Team Losi xxx4 g+?
Nice and cheap! |

Belt drive aren't they and what is the battery layout? Just looked and it's stick cells and belt drive |
Belt, stick pack, and sealed drive-train so no mess to clean up :)
|
For stick packs, your options are the CAT or the ZX-5.
|
Interesting as I was considering a ZX5. Cat SX is pushing the boat out money wise.
So the Losi it could be |
ZX-5 better value?
|
Think about the CAT S1 edition, lower price but awesome spec.
|
you can run stick packs lipos in the losi xx4 all you need is a different battery strap, think they are alot more popular car than the xxx4 too with the people that had the choice between the too handling and jump wise or you could go with the hotbodies cyber10b as they are a good car too and run stick pack lipos exclusively
|
i would go cat s1, great value for money,
|
I'm not going down the road of "Run what i am, They are the best!" but i guess the xxx4 G+ seems to fit into the "Sling on the mucky track" Catagory.
If you want somthing streight forward id go for the either of the Losi cars, The xxx4 G+ will be easier to maintain having only one belt and less to go wrong. The xx4 Worlds Edition car has to be the better car of the two but if you want Cheap, Easy to run and less hassle id go for the xxx4 g+ anyday. The CAT is spot on, But as you say creeping into the £150 or above mark seems to be abit much if its somthing to chuck round the track when its mucky!. I've recently got myself a xxx4 G+ with loads and loads of spares for less than £100 all in all, When i mean loads of parts i mean it!! LOL Mikey, Where will you be running it? |
X11 08 running stick;)
|
Titchfield if they are running during the winter. It's an astro turf track.
Losi XXX4 G+ I haven't seen one yet at my track.. Also for those that are pm'ing me - I'm not sure on a Durga, I've heard parts are a nightmare with these. Depending what holiday I have in September may also determine what I do. Two weeks all inclusive to Sri Lanka = less on a car.. Somewhere in Europe :( more on the car |
Mike
Guess what....Ian has a xxx4 if you want to see one. It's the bright yellow one he sometimes uses |

Tempting
http://www.dms-racing.com/fruzat/qax...SQL/search.asp But pushing the boat out.. Cheapness I feel ZX-5, everything else is going to be £140+ Think I'll look at the 4WD cars at the track when I next there (next weekend) |
Sell my B4 for a Cat SX LIPO is my other thoughts.
|
Depends on what you want it for Mikey. If you're going to race consistently over winter, go for the CAT. If it's more recreational or occasional, go for the ZX-5 or XXXG+.

Shame your running stickpacks. Im going with saddles and a DURANGO  those rubber boots on the shocks and driveshafts, lack of maintenance for the diffs  CANNOT WAIT:wub:wub:wub
