lipo's and esc's

Hi,
Is it ok to run a 3700mah 7.4v lipo with a mtroniks 11rv esc or a MRT pro??

Cheers simon

yes
just dont run them flat, if your unsure as to how low your running them too buy a voltage cut off from novak/trakpower

sefton 08-03-2007 02:08 PM

does the novak gtb have one built in?

mark christopher 08-03-2007 03:16 PM

no idea check novak site. but he dont have a novak so presumably its yours?

if your ESC don't support LiPO (and they don't) then you need to get a voltage cut-off suitable for your pack, otherwise you could well be left with a trashed battery,

Just bought one £22 from microtec!

I don't know if you can get them in the UK, but recent robitronic ESCs (Icube: 5T, Speedstar 2: 17T, 12T, 8T) have an optional Lipo cutoff at 2,8V/cell and there are some Protech ESCs too.
A friend of mine uses the Icube and I have two of the speedstar series (8T for 4wd and 12T for 2wd)

Of course a dedicated lipo-saver comes cheaper, but just in case you're looking for a new ESC!

the next generation of Tekin ESC are LiPo ready, and are due for release very soon.

lrp/nosram/mamba and i belive mrt are all now Lipo proof

With LRP/Nosram the Sphere has no LVC. Only the Sphere Competition and the TC-Spec has it.
