Should I repair or not?
The Ariel wire on my reciever is goosed! I have tryed to repair it but it has become too weak to even go though the tube.
Sould I just buy some new ariel and solder in into place? or is it best to just buy a new unit altogether? Also who sells ariel wire? Thanks Craig. |
In my opinion i would just solder on a new ariel because the rest of the unit should still be alright.
And no i dont know where to buy ariel wire. My dad always sorts that out for me.;) |
model shops sell it, you can probably buy it from most trackside shops too. I have replaced my aerial wires before - usually it's no problem at all and is meant to be replaced when (not if) it breaks.

Also ensure you cut the new wire to the exact length, it does make a difference.;) |

Hi Sefton,
There is a very good thread on RCracechat, where it states all aerial wire lengths and types. The wire is just basic wire, but need to check the number of strands of copper through it - its all on the racechat thread. You can check the wire by stripping the plastic and counting, easy. openning the case (carefully) and resoldering is very easy, so long as you have a soldering iron with one of those point ends. I re-did all of my KO receivers last year, and they work 100% since. |
Thanks!
