How do i install a centre one-way?
Hi. Playing around with setups.
I want to try a FR: Diff Center: One-way RR: Diff Can someone give me intrsuctions on how to install the one way? It doesnt explain how to do it in the manual. or does it? where do i put the parts? is it near the slipper? do i use the parts from the front oneway? Sorry for stupid question but i dont know how a center one way supposed to work, but would like to try it... |
It goes in next to the front gear box. The centre shaft should go into a plastic drive-cup where it goes into the front gearbox. This drive-cup should just pop out (it's a plug-in hex) if you remove the shaft and pull. Replace this plastic bit with one of the one-way bearings (you'll have to pull one out of the front one-way). Make sure you get it the right way round!!

centre one-way works by allowing both front wheels to roll forward freely regardless of the front diff ie. locked, ball-gear diff or one-way.
It is pictured and explaned in the instructions but as u say not that clear !! If u still are having problems installing centre one-way then pm me and i will be glad to show you ! (i would tell you now but i have been to the pub:D ) |
ahhhh yeah i read the instructions again, was damm confusing especially since its my first ever build of a car.
pg 21 is confusing because the middle pic shows the step after installing the centre one way, but it only shows with a centre locked diff. it should of been obvious but really isnt and i would like to think i am a reasonably intelligent person hehe hopefully this will solve my handling woes when i ran with a front one way.... thanks guys |
If its any help, i run a front diff one-way & center one-way
|
why is that? i may have to try....
is there enough parts in the kit for that? or did you buy that extra... |

Unless you've got them opposite ways round :D |
you will require another roller bearing to try it ! best bet is to borrow one from someone with a lazer who is not using it :)

KMRC make a centre one way shaft, you can find it here: http://www.km-rc.com/oscommerce/cata...a54d3340278af1 Hope this helps omen1975 |

Solid centre and one way front diff gives more steering both on & off power, but can unsettle the car under braking or coming off the power abruptly. double one ways - more steering than front diff or front diff and one way, smoother action than solid centre & one way front |

so installing this is the equivalent to a centre one way? |

Just a little question:
Does the car only brake with the rear wheels with centre one-way as it does with front one-way? |
