X-11 STEERING
Just had an X-11, new owner of resti's pred. i currentley have a steering issue where the steering is not returning to centre. seems like theres tight spots there.
help. :mad::o:mad: :lol::D |
check if the movement is free....
|
as max say check everything is free. in most cases any steering bind is caused by the balljoints being twisted at an awkward angle so make sure they are all in line. after that if it is still binding check the silver slider bar is moving freely.

steering
the steering it self is ok, seems like one of the rods fowling. ??????

:confused::eh?:

Like Nathan said, look at the ball joints on either end of the turnbuckle to make sure they are straight. I also bought a used Pred and one of the ball joints was causing a bind in the steering.
Also make sure the screws on the steering post are not too tight (binding the bearing). Hope that helps. |
if the slider is binding then loosen the screws holding the xbrace and pul the brace forwards making sure the gap between ther bearing holder on the xbrace and the gearbox top is the same both sides before retightening. if you need a pic pm me your email addy. this is what i do to make sure of free steering everytime. i have seen the odd older x11 that required a motor shim between the bearings and the steering arms or they would bind on the chassis but since xtreme brought the making of the x-brace inhouse that has become a thing of the past.

i think the problem is only the ball joint very hard:)

worn parts
how often shoulsi change the moving parts on the steering?
is it best to do once the steering starts to have play in it when the servo is a nutral? cheers. |
weights at the front
would some weights under the front shocks help get more steer when comeing out of a corner?:confused:
|
Yep, i run anwhere where between 20 and 40g, its worth playing around with it to get the feel how you like it.
Not sure if you have the stick lipo layout or not but if you do its worth running them forward. I also run my speedo right at the front to get the weight forward so its worth considering that aswell. |
more steer
