Truggy National R3 @ Deerdale

1st time at Deerdale and a Nitro National for me

Really enjoyed it yesterday, thanks to all involved – thanks to Neil on RC for helpfull info on race procedure and the Deerdale Crew for putting on the show.

1st look at the track and I thought, :woot:, O’s**t , to many jumps for me and no pre race practice

Thank heavens for the approx 4 min warm before H1 were I managed 6L in 5m 33s with Losi kit tyres

R2 leaned the motor out as if felt woolly on the bottom and the thing was lifting the fronts at will as I still giving it jip like I did in R1. The motor kept stalling, traced to a blown clutch & bearings after the heat. Tried Bowties, more grip. Fettled clutch for R3

R3, bowties still on and thought on for a good un here, until I f*u*’d the triple on the 1st lap  that cost me 11s according to BBK

Made the F and was looking for a bump to the E which would have made my day

Final
Put the medium LRP’s on but not as much grip on the rears as the bowties. Off to a flyer or so I thought, engine cut at 1st corner. Got going and with good pace I could see the others coming back to me. Cut again after pitting around the 1st corner. 2nd PS and cut in the same place again. This time the car was retired as it wasn't going to play. Motor cooled down and it started so out for the last minute just to see. (done some research and I'm now a bit wiser for next time, just give the balls out to buid up some pressure, I think)

Big thanks to Mathew Welch (son of Phil, I hope) who pitted for the heats, should have bought him an ice cream I suppose and Jimmie Price for the final. Next time you see Jimmie he’ll be a stone lighter as I think he enjoyed the exercise and may be taking it up, but then again
