Wot compressor ?
Couple of questions for the pro painters on here .....
Firstly compressors, do they need to have a reservoir, there's a few cheapish ones about, like this one - http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...-compressors-2 but it doesn't have the reservoir, is that essential or wouldn't it make much difference ......? What would you recommend ? And secondly, what do you guys use in terms of a blade for cutting out liquid masking in the shells ? Is there an ideal blade shape or is it down to super steady hands ? Your thoughts appreciated :D |
i always use a compressor with a reservoir as it runs less that way, that compressor will be running all the time your spraying, its the cfm that matters most though, and as for blade if i remember rite it a number 10 blade its a long pointy one

What's that big lump if it's not a reservoir? :bored:
I got one from BnQ - not sure of the make but it was a general DIY job - about 50-60 quid and worked fine. Fine, but incredibly noisy and I couldn't handle it and had to take it back. I'm lucky enough to have a dentist air compressor - but I've used one without a reservoir and it didn't produce a good smooth result at all. |
deffinately one with a reservoir and that is oil free.
as for blades, i think most use a #10A. personally, i use a #10. tis all down to preference though. heres a link to the two mentioned. http://www.axminster.co.uk/images/products/09271_l.jpg |
i use number 11 blades for my craft knife and as for compressor pritty much agree with the others , a resovior is worth having but not mega essential

Must be smaller than it looks then - or a very big motor
My compressor isn't oil free but I've never had a problem. It's made for spraying in peoples mouths (!) so I would guess it doesn't usually throw oil out with the air :woot: |

oh no wait i can see it on the newspaper tmorrow 'Dentist robbed in armed robbery , in his troumertised statment the dentist said "He had red hair and had a remote that he said would blow the building up if i didnt give him my compresser"' police have serched the building and found no such explosive device , who was this strange haired compresser robbing man - if you reccognise him from the photo please call crimestoppers on 14-19-99" ^That took me adges and still isnt as funny as i thought it would be :bored: John :woot::lol: |
I prefer no reservoir i run a little spamax/iwata diaphragm compressor...its great...quiet....small and consistant:)
