Shock Oil Brands... The Same? Or what to go for?

Hi Guys!

Just wondering over shock oil. I currently use Fastrax shock oil, it does the job, seems ok and it £2.69 online.

I have read all over the place that Team Associated oil is the way to go. It's less than pound more, but its more...

my question is, what would i really gain from using TA over fastrax. I need to order some more this week for the Hyper 9 so would like to make a decision before getting too far down one road then wishing id taken the other

I would say that Losi is the best shock oil out there

Schumacher oil seems weaker to me over Losi stuff?

thats the other one that constantly gets mentioned in threads regarding the hyper 9.

Whats with the different colours in Losi oils?

It doesn't really matter as long as you stick to one type, and learn it. There is a lot of variation between brands as to weight, with ones 25wt being anothers 30wt so swapping between brands can be confusing.

thats how i thought it might be to be honest.

im a little torn between staying cheap, and going Losi to get the incremental variations in weight.

Ive used shumacher stuff for years and its always seemed as good or better than the other shock oil to me :D

There is a very interesting article here - http://www.twf8.ws/php/tip/shock.html

It appears that basically, oils between brands are not consistent.

So, buy your oils from one brand, and hope that you don't get any mis-filled bottles!

i used schumacher for years but always found it coming out dirty dark colour with any shocks i used it with..went to "ultimate" oils and felt a massive difference, more consistant. It always comes out clear..but i seem to be 5-10wt more then the other guys i pit with, they use losi, schm,ae etc. Or i always feel the car needs to be stiffer. either way...go with what you know.
