NO MORE LRP WARRANTY
Just read another thread and:
It looks like LRP has quietly scraped their 25year waranty on the latest SXX ? What a shame, this was the very thing that made LRP worth the extra money. Did they think they can scrap it and still sell their ESCs as expensive? Can someone confirm this is the case as i was going to get the new SSX ? John |
I heard a lot of the team drivers for lrp were having problems with the sxx so have switched back to the sphere tc.

Never had a single thing go wrong with LRP gear
All the best |
+1... Great kit!

Spoke to Jamie at SMD yesterday and he clarified that all existing "standard" products will still carry the full 25 year LRP Warranty, "However" the top spec equipment (such as the SXX) will now carry a 2 year warranty for the UK.
We are told that this is for several reasons but one is that the expectations and demands on such high end equipment means the 2 year warranty (for the original purchaser only) is more appropriate. To explain further, LRP are saying that they can make their equipment to last forever but at the sacrifice of performance but the top end kit is so close to working at 100% of its capability it just simply cannot carry such a long warranty any longer with the stresses and strains we are putting through them. A good comparison would be the motor car engine. An every cars engine will often have a minimum of a 3 year warranty, some 5, some even 10 years now on same makes, since the motor car engine is not working at any near 100% of its capabilty these is relatively simple to offer and stand by, on the other hand a Formula 1 engine will deliver optimum performance but will never be expected to last 100,000's of miles like a road car would, hence at its performance level its life expectancy is lower...... |
So the SPX will still carry a 25 year warrenty? That is the sport version isn't it? Though it still has a low motor limit
|
2 I believe....
|
Just checked and:
SXX which is the new top of the range no compramise speedo and is a complete redesign, competition and TC versions, have the 2 year warrenty and a 2.5T motor limit. SPX which is the competition range of speedo, which is an update of the Sphere, has a 3.0T brushless limit has the 25 year warrenty. |
if i go blue, spx it will be then!

I understand that a top-level ESC makes the difference in On-road ... but IMHO you must be a fool to buy such an expensive ESC (with only two year-life-expectancy) for off-roadracing |

I think they have done the right thing here. They have made the old ones cheaper and brought out a new, higher performance speedo. |
spx is basically the same as a sphere but with reverse

I second this, i think it was the spx we used for the 24h race, it didnt skip a beat for the whole meeting, the biggest issue we had was whether to use reverse or not  |
Everywhere I have looked the SPX is more expensive than the SXX
|
I just received my german-sourced Nosram 90710=SPX stock spec
It did NOT come with the 25year warranty !:( |
Hence why I've just dumping a LRP Sphere TC for a Tekin RS Pro. If they have the same warranty etc. it's down to the better product...
Plus the LRP has a shite BEC compare to the Tekin.. |

how's that possible? |
This all seems a bit silly, a speedo will either be up to the load asked of it or not, they don't degrade or 'wear out' over time :bored:
