Depends on do you mean 240volt to 12v
or do you mean 12v as in car battery ?

240v-12v examples =http://www.ripmax.com/item.asp?itemi...0&Category=070

http://www.ripmax.com/item.asp?itemi...0&Category=070

or 12v's
either go visit your local halfords or car parts stockists and try to get a good deal on leisure batteries or failing that a battery stockists ( ats ,kwikfit) and get a decent 12v tractor/truck battery

I think someone suggested picking them up at the tip also? I am guessing they are free there? Or the car breakers had a few when I took my car there.

you're best off with a leisure battery, they last an awful lot longer (over time) car batterys seem to die off quicker, i had two in one season (both from the scrap yard) and in the past 4 or so years ive had two leisure batterys over that period.

try get a 110 amp, the 75amp don't cut the biscuit for a full weekend racing.

Leisure batterys come with a 3 year garentee from the
Manufacturer, why didn't you take it back to where you got it from, if you had problems with it.

I think they are the same thing, pretty much. Although we did go to the VW breakers a couple of times, they specifically just had old Volkswagens kicking about. The place I went to was indeed a scrap yard and it was really exciting wandering around looking for loot.

Southwell 24-02-2007 10:39 PM

Was Bathys Golf there? :D

Mrs oOple 24-02-2007 10:41 PM

Harsh! Poor Bathy. It's a few years since we needed Vee Dub parts, back when we had our indicators stolen I believe. YES indicators . That's Huddersfield for you!

PaulRotheram 24-02-2007 10:42 PM

Bathys car should be there right now tbh.

not all do some have one or two years

mark christopher 25-02-2007 09:27 AM

leisure batts are best along with a good float charger
car bats will soon fail as thay are designed to give short bursts of power and not a constant drain like we need

tht is true, they are made to start a car by using like 75% of theyre electricity, so your better off with a leisure battery, i got mine for £40.

and it has a 1 year guranteeeeeeeeee.......biscuits
