BJ4 info please

Hi all, I have been into rc cars since I was a nipper, stopping at about 12, then starting again with rallycross 2 years ago. I have been offered a BJ4 we but know nothing about these cars. So info please. Where can you get spares?(uk) are they based on another car? are they any good?
Thanks in advance!

Hi David, welcome back :D

The car is pretty much ready to go out of the box, very little is actually needed straight away.

Spares in the UK are getting a bit harder to come by as the car isn't quite as popular as it once was, best thing to do is order what you'll need in advance direct from JC in the US. If you'd like to order over here any good shop with an SMD account should be able to ask Jamie to get parts over for you given a little extra lead time.

The only JC parts you will actually need to keep are front wishbones and possibly a front shock tower, other than that the car is very tough! Anything else you are likely to need will be standard AE stuff, shock shafts/shocks/rear arms/ballcups ect, all normal parts.

If you ever need any help either post here or shoot me a PM and I'll do my best to sort you out :)
Rich

Thanks for the info, I take it the car is based on a b44 then, as they look similar! Is this the case!

Other way round - B44 is based on the BJ4.

The other way round - First there was the BJ4 (stick pack layout, motor at rear), then there was the BJ4 Worlds Edition (saddle pack layout, mid-mounted motor), then there was the B44 (essentially a mass-production version of the BJ4-WE).

Listen to Richard - he is the BJ4 guru that helped me get to grips with mine.

In addition to the B44, some B4 and NTC3 parts also fit.

Nearly right, Hope the deal comes off, cant wait to have another go at 1/10, I race 1/8 rallyx which I love, till I have engine trouble!!!! And given the brushless motors and li-po's, there as quick anyway!

just looked at a standard bj4 stick pack formation could convert that on to my b44?

The difficulty would be in laying the pack down flat past the central bulkhead. There wouldn't be a problem if you mounted it on it's edge - not sure what that would do to shell fit and handling, though, as the whole point is to keep things as low as possible. I suppose it depends on the size of the pack.

Anyone know if a B44 alloy motor mount fits the BJ4? Mine's got a broken screw stuck in it and I can't drill it out :-(

I don't think so, although I don't have the two to compare.

AE made everything just different enough (screw locations ect) so the parts arn't really interchangable :(
