New here and what is it.

Hi everyone and sorry to make my first post a question but ive been given an old ic car and think its an SG but not sure what model it is, it does have an OS engine. I was told its late 70's early 80's but cant honestly remember ever seeing one when i was racing then. Anyway being given this has re ignited my interest and forced me up into the loft and shed to see what I still had and so far have pulled out:

Tamiya Ford Ranger with box and spares
Tamiya Rough Rider
Tamiya Bigwig with box and spares
Associated RC10 (X2) with boxes adn loads of spares
Kyosho Big Brute with box
Mardave Mini Stock with box
Schumacher Cat XL with box
Schumacker Calibra which i dont rememebr buying
Haibo Pirate M1 with OS 21 RFB
Various Transmitters
Loads of Model Cars and RC mags from the 80's and Tamiya Catalogues

Anyway I think the rest of my year is now full of cleaning and looking for the odd missing part and I cant wait to get started on that.

Any help on the oddball car will be much appreciated

Cheers

strewth... Tamiya collectors all just had a collective heart attack with that lot emerging from a shed... and many other collectors, with RC10's and a Cat XL....

front axle, steering assembly, bumper, silencer and rear end look very much like the SG futura i used to have, chassis different though, mine had a full metal chassis. could possibly be a later model or a home mod of one of them

Cool - I guess this would have been the kind of thing that would have been raced at the old Lilford track many years ago? - I had my first brush with the hobby there as a very small boy, whilst visiting the park with my parents. I was facinated - those cars were so noisy & fast!.... might start a thread about that old track, would love to hear stories & possibly see photos about the place - you can still see the outline of the circuit on google earth.

Sounds like you've got quite a collection there.... would love to see some pics of the other cars - especially the Cat & RC10s:cool:

Coool - thanks Hearselover - talk about service!:D

They take me back.... especially the CAT - but I always wanted either a Losi JRX or RC10 when I was racing BITD - that gold anodised chassis on the Associated really captured my imagination as a kid:drool: Unfortunately I had to make do with my trusty Mardave Meteor:D

I always felt the under-dog with it at my local club, but did ok & learn't alot - was always encouraged by the fact that a chap called Lee Romang (sponsored my Mardave I think?) Used to race his fully upgraded Meteor at our club beating most of the other guys with their much more expensive machinery - I think Lee managed to get into the A final at a RRC meeting IIRC?

I think I should have recieved commission from Mardave as at least five of my friend's brought them on my recommendation:D

P.S; sorry for rambling somewhat off-topic:blush:

looks like a pb6 shown on that site. really does look like a sg, definately has the sg tank but looking at the pb6 the detail is all there, well spotted

Mike Haswell 05-06-2009 09:40 PM

It has the diff in the back and is mostly likely to be the PB9 - reading the info on the site, that version came with a SG tank.
