Rally

How popular is RC rally 1/10 electric in UK?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVvrdtkbGb0
Are there any races organized?

Thanx, Skoky.

Colinevan 01-06-2009 09:12 PM

that was great. never seen or heard of that before

mole2k 01-06-2009 09:19 PM

I've heard of it before it's been mentioned a few times on here but as far as I know there isnt really a scene for it here. I've often thought it looked great fun.

I'm sure someone on here takes part in such things as I've seen photos before. After the initial shock and laughter died down - I have to say I wanna have a go.

GRIFF55 01-06-2009 09:38 PM

dont think i could afford the new trainers for every run:lol:

ben 01-06-2009 09:52 PM

Using SC10's instead of the rally cars! Now look again

Rally

Yes, you have to run and drive. Its lot of fun and sport as well. You dont really need any race track, just a place some where.

Cars are cooler, sorry BJ.

But buggies are COOLEST!

MikePimlott 01-06-2009 10:13 PM

2 stages of rally and 3 heart attacks later id have had enough :woot:

Colinevan 01-06-2009 10:13 PM

Hmm i agree, how good would it look if we could get a round of rally cars running std 19t equiv motors ( brushless ) or even std 540 silver cans or Tamita sport tuned motors etc

Hoe close would the racing be... Would be ace, i reckon Southport or bury would be ace with these.

Oh yeah! scale shells rock!!! They look awesome and the track looked kinda scale too...

BUT WHY ALL THE RUNNING...? WHAT'S ALL THAT ABOUT...? :eh?:

MHeadling 02-06-2009 06:52 AM

That looks alright! One way to get fit chasing your car!! Epr would be good with a few of these flying about !!

Looks quite a cheap set up, TT01 rally car, new set of trainers and some
Little red shorts!!

HPI sponsored a rally series in the late '90's. Although lots of people said it looked cool, it died after only a couple of seasons.

A few places ran rally cars about a decade ago. They had a brief burst of popularity with rally versions of the HPI RS4, Yokomo MR4, Schumacher SST and Losi Street Weapon. In most cases they were little more than jacked up tourers with longer shocks and undershells.
However I never saw rallys like that. It was all circuit racing, which was the problem. Put them on a flat track and its just a touring car with a different shell, but they didn't really have the travel for 10th buggy tracks. Mostly it was TC tracks with a few mild jumps thrown in, hardly rallying.

Something like that video would be great. However, just like back then I'd suspect that rather than a TT01 rally you'd be better off with a modified Snoring car.

Wow!

This brings back memories....

I remember back in the mid 80's York Model Car club ran an event @ Rowntrees Park in the centre of York... The layout was similar to these rally stages, you'd got to run around the park, linking the various obsticles...

Park benches we're used as up 'n' overs, the band stand was a kind of round-a-bout... Not sure of the length of the acctual track but i remember it taking around the 10min mark to complete the course....

Happy days...

Is it just me, or does watching that video remind anyone of Crufts in the 'run around the obstacle course' bit?

I'm liking it though, and Tamiya have recently released the DF03-RA (short wishbone version of the DF-03) which is really cool.

A mild buggy track would be perfect, and then those who don't want to run can stand on a rostrum.

Only thing is, the track would have to be modular, to allow different routes for different stages, 1 lap of the track = 1 stage. Then split the lane in two for the SSS with two cars at once.

It'd be ace.:D

MHeadling 02-06-2009 02:42 PM

As mentioned by Marvin: DF03 rally car: would be good with 10.5 and lipo!
