BC6 and TrakPower Lip problem

Help please - I just bought a BC6 and 4900 Trakpower Lipo's. Unfortunately the BC6 to Trakpower balancing cable is out of stock so I can't balance at the moment.

So I decided to charge without balancing. I set the BC6 to Lip correctly 2s 7.4V etc but when I press START to charge I get an error message (Battery Vol Err Cell Connect) which says I have bad leads. I tried charging a NimH pack and this was fine, so the leads must be OK. I then charged the Lipo with my other Prolux charger (on Lipo of course) and this charged the battery without any problem.

So, battery OK, BC6 charging leads OK - anyone had a similar problem? Must I have the balancing cable for the BC6 to charge Lipo's?

Cheers Tony

did you have a balance connector for another brand of battery connected to the charger?

If you have any balance cable plugged into the charger but not the cells, it won;t charge. Just unplug the balance cable and it should be ok.

Did you choose the basic lipo charge option, or the balance charge option?

No balance charge cable connected and basic charge selected.

only had this if a balance lead is left in the port, have you had the bc6 from new?,

Unless I am misunderstanding you are charging off 12 volts, we found our BC6 would give this error if our 12v car battery was lower volts (>11.? something)

My Charger Give This Error , But When I Balanced The Lipo It Worked Fine Then , dose this about every 10-15charges and then you have to balance the lipo again.

Many thanks all. It is new, I'm charging from the mains and a balance cable has never been connected.

It sounds like the most possible answer is the one about getting this error message when you need to balance. I guess I will have to wait until I get my balance cable and try then.

I've had this problem, but it was when the balance harness was left connected to the charger, i've also got a trakpower pack that the charger refuses to balance no matter what, even though it will balance on other chargers, hope you get it sorted

Thanks James for lending your balance cable at Southport this weekend. It fixed the problem. Obviously the BC6 doesn't like to undertake a basic charge on TrakPower Lipo's. Balance charge fine.
