Poll: Who would want a race series for Trucks/SC10's
 
As per subject post..

who would be up for some sort of series for the SC10 trucks, basically keeping them stock as possible, with a motor limit of say 8.5 Brushless?
Lipo would be allowed, but tyres would be the std ones.

Post your votes (and comments) now, and I will try hard to get something arranged..

Yeah, would be interesting but suggest a 10.5 "stock-spec" motor limit and stock suspension/tyres to keep it as equal as possible. What about cheapo hand-out motors included in race fees? Just a bit of blue-sky thinking.

8.5-10.5 motors would be fine,stock suspension and transmission would make it better and cheaper for us, also a voltage limit could be imposed 6cells or 2 cell lipo

Although I think they look fugly, EVERYONE who owns an SC10 seems to love them with all their heart!

I think an SC10/truck (T4 etc) series would be a great idea myself :)

I think a short course SC10 / Slash series is a top idea. It would be great way to get newcomers into the hobby too, with the realistic looks and handling. 10.5 motors fit the bill well imo. I also think it’s really important to keep strict control of tyres, I’d say allow the stock tyres from either of the manufacturers to be used on either truck, no mini pins etc.

In my perfect world, with the two current trucks (AE & TRX), I'd allow the slash guys 8.5 motors and SC10 10.5 to spice it up, make truck choice more difficult and balance the playing field. But that kind of stuff's difficult to regulate so one motor for all's probably best. It wouldn't affect me, I'd be last anyway :lol:

Or even do two classes, 8.5 and 10.5? After all they run 2 classes in the real world. :)

it sounds good what we do at dirt arena is just have a huge selection of brushless motor running from 8.5 to about 5.5 i think and there is not a huge differents in the speed or control of the cars

Here's 2 X60's up against 2 x SC10's. Purely clowing around, but all have a 13.5 limit. The SC10's are standard stock set up. The X60's have been toyed with but I couldn't tell you how. They may appear a little slow on the straight, but it's hard to tell just how steep that hill is on the vid.

Great fun and would love to get more people out with the trucks. Very little to do, very little to break, and they can be slotted in amongst other classes to give breathing space.

We ran the reverse track to the 4WD that day, not the greatest of ideas coming down a steep hill with bends, grippy tyres and jelly shocks.... but good fun:thumbsup:

If you're 50/50 about buying a truck. Do it. Satisfaction of tagging the back, watching them spin and finishing with a T-bone is worth every penny.

I watched Harris and Paul from Trackside Spares reppin' it up on Friday, they are ace to watch racing around, but im just not sure on the shells :/

I'll be battling with them on friday, missus permitting, with my 'puke orange' sc10.

the shells are crazy huge - must be like having a parachute on big jumps. they do look cool bouncing around.

I think the more the merrier. Harris' SC10 looked wicked as it drifted around the tight and twisty bits.

I tell ya, slow motors are the future! The ZX5 only has a standard 20turn brushed in and its more fun than my 6.5L :D

harris has the skills, without a doubt. he's got an uncanny knack for judging just how much lock to use. that was my biggest problem on friday - i've gotten used to some direct info on the back end stepping out.

i agree - slow motors are the future - if everyone could agree on which slow one to run we'd have some mega close racing, just like the old school 27t buggy racing in the rrc champs from the early 90's. then we'd be looking at entire race meetings on one fully charged lipo pack!

I think Haggis and Paul were all runnings 10.5's? Ive also read of others on here running 10.5's too? Seems to work, from a spectator point of view :)

I will see if we can perhaps do a weekend meeting with them at Hereford for starters, as I think we probably have one of the biggest groups of SC10's!

I think the concensus is for slow motors. However, I think that we need to strike a balance on motor limit. I think most people are using 10.5's, but the 8.5 limit would allow a few more in I think (this would apply to the SC10/Slash class, as well as kit tyres only!).

What about the X60/T4/XXXT-CR class, and tyres?

Possible basic rules??

Slash/SC10 class trucks:
  • Any brushless motor with 8.5 turns or more on the BRCA EB List
  • Any Brushed motor with 12turns or more on the BRCA EB List
  • Any Lipo or NIMH Legal Pack on the BRCA EB List (for safety reasons).
  • Recommended use of a Lipo Charging sack/pouch.
  • Kit Tyres only (Inserts and wheels can be changed).
  • Any commercially available stadium Truck Bodyshells which enclose the wheels (unlike T4 which have protruding wheels - kit bodies recommended).
  • Body Must be neatly finished and painted at least one colour.
  • Windows must be clear (to assist with scrutineering).
  • Race numbers to be clearly displayed on the front and both sides of the truck with a minimum cut down size of 10mm white showing around the number
  • Minimum Ride Height 15mm
  • No modifications to ball diffs (SC10) or other performance upgrades. Checks to be made at scrutineers discretion.
T4/Modified Truck Class??
  • Any commercially available Stadium truck kit with open wheels.
  • Any Brushless motor on the BRCA EB List
  • Any Brushed motor on the BRCA EB List
  • Any Lipo or NIMH Legal Pack on the BRCA EB List (for safety reasons).
  • Recommended use of a Lipo Charging sack/pouch.
  • Any commercially available stadium Truck Bodyshells
  • Body Must be neatly finished and painted at least one colour.
  • Windows must be clear (to assist with scrutineering).
  • Race numbers to be clearly displayed on the front and both sides of the truck with a minimum cut down size of 10mm white showing around the number
  • Minimum Ride Height 15mm
  • Any commercially available rubber tires for Trucks.
Possible basic Track rules??
  • Tracks to have at least one raised feature, that is not level with the rest of the track (i.e. to prevent tarmac touring car tracks being used, "Bombholes" will be permitted) - common sense to be used when laying out the tracks....
  • Track surface can be anything (including clay, grass, carpet, astro-turf, polish floor etc etc).
  • Start/Finish straight must be long enough to allow 10 cars to start a final equally spaced at 1m intervals.
  • Races to last 5 minutes plus final lap (as per BRCA).
