*Ko servo help*

Hi, everyone.

After a meeting racing outdoors this sunday. In very hot conditions in my TC my ko 2343 servo has gone alot stiffer than it ussualy is. It is also making a strange noise when you move it by hand from left to right. It doesnt feel rough like it does when theres a broken gear it has just gone very stiff.
Anyone know whats wrong with it?
Maybe a dead motor?
Or does it just need rebuilding and re greasing?

Please help me:thumbsup:

Is the first gear on those plastic?

jonny123 26-05-2009 11:09 AM

It has one plastic gear inside it (the very thin one)
Not sure what the first gear is tbh:confused:

Is it defo the servo? Have you disconnected the link and checked the steering on the car is free?

The first is the plastic one, which is there so if you do get excessive load that breaks instead of the motor. It's worth checking that gear is perfect, it could be missing some teeth.

Checked the gears. They all look fine. Including the plastic one!

Yes its definately just the servo.
:confused::confused:

Sounds like the motor then.

jonny123 26-05-2009 02:08 PM

:o Ill build it all up etc. You never know it may free up if i re grease everything?

Southwell 26-05-2009 02:10 PM

Does it sound dodgy? My 2123 is my 2wd is a bit sticky, but runs perfectly....

jonny123 26-05-2009 02:12 PM

Yeh lol it sounds dodgy but runs fine. Maybe its nothing to worry about then:)

Southwell 26-05-2009 02:16 PM

Maybe a bit of grease will help anyway. Have a go and report back. :)

jonny123 26-05-2009 02:24 PM

ok, doing it now lol.
thanks for ur help m8 "ur a legend" as they say

jonny123 26-05-2009 02:39 PM

cheers m8, ive rebuilt and re greased it now and it doesnt make that dodgy noise anymore:thumbsup: and is not as stiff :D

I have noticed though that when you tighten up the srews for the casing it goes stiffer and when u slacken off the four screws it gets a bit more free-er ?
Is that normal ?

Southwell 26-05-2009 02:42 PM

Yeah, thats the casing distorting, they only need nipping up. Ill do mine when i rebuild the car next. Cheers!

If in doubt just send it to Derek Bailey for a rebuild/service. Guaranteed to come back like new and hes very reasonably priced too. Not worth risking it letting you down if you are travelling any distance to race !

jonny123 26-05-2009 05:49 PM

Yh thts an idea.
thanks rich.

Who's this guy then??
Is he a KO man or does he just repair servos?
Any contact details?

Thanks Jonny:thumbsup:
