VENUE needed in the South

If there is anyone that knows of a LARGE barn, warehouse or similar for rent (long term) or to even buy then please let me know ASAP.
It has to be big enough to hold National and International events for 1/10th and 1/8th Off Road......
Many of you may already know that I am looking for a all new venue to build an all new dirt track but it HAS to be a big and permanent venue.
Please advice if you can help

How far down south are you looking?

RudeTony 25-05-2009 10:20 AM

Hi Yah
Anywhere south of Birmingham - the closer to the M25 the better for easy access for everyone

Tony,

Why not do a drive round areas where they rent out the use of wedding venue barns and knock on doors and ask. The best alternative would be to find a farm as they would welcome a means of some extra cash especially as the government are trying to ruin them.

I hope you find something, keep me posted on whats happening.

Hi James
The problem with a drive round scenario (which I have done) is the following.
Firstly, the venues that are used have commitments and it won't be a permanent venue.
Agents are involved and that simply makes it too expensive.
Example: I have found the best venue but not in the best area.
A massive double unit (one for pitting) and could build a track as large as any other in the UK - all indoors BUT the agent is involved and the price is £20k per annum just for the rent. This is simply too high as I want to keep the entry fee for race meetings as low as possible.
It has to be someone that knows someone type thing on a barn or warehouse or land or anything so long as we can cover it (bloody weather) and that way if the venue is not used they get something rather than nothing.
Been through to various councils and as many know they are useless and have a care factor of zero......
Help as they say - someone must know something that can help locating a good venue....

I don't know of any in particular, but many warehouses are empty at the moment, due to the recession. I know that some of the owners won't even charge rent at the moment, and you just pay fees. That would be ideal, especially as lighting and possibly heating would already be there.

It would be worth a look round local industrial estates, and if any warehouse look empty, give the owners a ring. You never know, the UK's best track could be waiting to be made inside.

Is it definately going to be dirt? Or if nothing can be found then an open track going to be made?

Thanks for all the comment and PMs sent so far.
I have a vision of building a track that can be compared to the best in the world.
Many of you that know me, know that I mean what I say when it comes to these things. I just need the venue and then all go from there.
Clay is the desire from my point of view but clay has to be covered - the weather is no good in the UK as many of us unfortunately know. Yes to the warehouse but there is a down part to that. Would you want to race in a warehouse when it's glorious sunshine outside? I personally wouldn't so to me it's a bad mark for this. Of course in the winter months it doesn't get better that that.
The ideal scenario in my opinion is a large area with permission to cover it enough to have the track and the pitting under cover but we will leave open sides. Now we have the best of all weather scenarios and no issues with noice or smell etc etc .....
I have a couple of leads come through on PMs so will check them out but the more the better chance in simply finding the right venue for everyone.
I want the venue to be raced on by all Off-Road classes. Sorry no room for Touring cars here for me......
The ambition by the way is to have a track so good that the relavent organisations want us to hold a World Championship, Euros etc BUT for me is to have great events for everyone in the UK to actually enjoy and want to be there at every oppotunity...........sorry for spelling mistakes :(

There's the makings of a good track at Viables Craft Centre in Basingstoke

Sorry Tony, couldn't resist.

They started to build a new village hall in the next village along from mine next to the old one which I think was damaged by fire. They have only got as far as a roof and no sides in 11 years, it now just sits dorment. There is also a wooden structure next door and an old bowls pitch which could be an outdoor track. The only thing is it's hard to judge size when your driving past 30 yards away and I don't know about parking.
I have absolutely no idea who owns it or future plans but if you wanted to speak to somebody it's in Whitehill, first four digits of the postcode are either GU34 or GU35. Just a thought.

Good luck, sounds like a brilliant idea

Thanks for the Info - Geographically I feel it's in the wrong area BUT saying that, do you know if it's permanent - in other words they are willing to let us set up permanent and hold race meetings whenever we want?
Regards Tony Evdoka

David Church 28-05-2009 06:22 PM

It's in the right area for me!!!!!:D:D:D And it's close to Dover so would attract racers from Europe!!!

RudeTony 05-06-2009 08:42 AM
