Pc World

Has anyone else had any bad experiences with pc world

My dad went in after 4 weeks and they basically said it lost in the store

they had my laptop for 5 weeks and 6 days which was annoying because the next day they had to give a new one so i got a call typically the day before saying the laptop was ready

then i got it home and it was covered in scratches and they even gave me a lower reselution graphics card

nice one

what shall i do :(

PC World are shite - Fact.

The storys i heard when working in a PC shop from customers that had things 'Fixed' by them was just stupid. They seemed like they were just conning people and blabbering technological shite.

From pointless upgrades and fixings was just beyond beleif...

Go in there ask to speak to the manager nice and carmly explain what has happened. Ask him what he intends to do about it. If he offers you somthing you like the sound of then take it. But if he tries to bullshit, dont raise your voice and start shouting you will not get anything. Just say i payed you to repair my laptop, which has been done BUT it took almost 6 weeks to be repaired and when i revieved it back it has been badly scratched and im not topleased about it. Its not your fault they have damaged it. If they have any company ethics they will sort your problem out straight away. But ALOT of big companys these days have no company ethics PC world, tesco etc etc

Go get em boy. Dont be influancedy by them and dont settle for anything less than you want. (with in reason no speed boats etc)

I take it you don't complain much ash?

Sometimes you have to raise your voice so other customers hear your not happy, im not saying shout and threaten them but managers do not want other people to hear that you are dissatisfied as it is negative.

What's wrong with tesco? i shop at both sainsburys and tesco and i have never had a problem with tesco, if i have to exchange or refund something there has never been an issue, but a supermarket is very different to pc world, you don't take your can of beans back when it has run out and ask for a refill as they should have lasted longer.

Companies also have policies, if the manager is following the policy then their hands are tied whether you are happy or not. you just have to accept it.

You must complain though, i complained a couple of years ago and walked away with a cheque for 6k

complain, kick up a fuss, do what you need, use phrases like 'trading standard' and obtain 'legal advice' in front of customers, they will soon take you to one side. Do it at a busy time.

The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982

This requires a supplier of a service acting in the course of business (not scotland) to carry out that service with reasonable care and skill and, unless agreed to the contrary, within a reasonable time and make no more than a reasonable charge.

If PC World has not carried out the work with reasonable care and skill the law treats the matter as a breach of contract and you can seek redress for breach of contact.

Hope that helps

If I remember correctly Domonic littlewood did a programme called
" Dont get done get Dom" one episode featured pc world about some problem with service you may be able to look it up on the web

Also had a bad experience with them. Everyone in the Dixons group (Currys, Dixons, The link and PC World) Seems to be awkward for the sake of it. I gor trading standards onto them about a faulty TV. They quickly caved in. Its a pain in the ass to do, but its worth it. if possible in the future, NEVER deal with DSG retail!! i know i never will!!

Gibsy 19-05-2009 07:32 PM

Just been in made me wait for 40 mins then told me that it has still got the problem that it got sent of for.

But they have now said that there going to let it go over its 6 weeks limit so i will be getting a new replacement laptop this saturday at last :eh?:

cheers for all your help :)

i also noticed after 40 minutes in the store that they are selling unbranded webcams for £2.99

I went in with a graphics card fault and said it was due to an incompatibilty with hardware. Which point I was asked if I knew what I was doing.. I said pardon and got the you heard. So I reminded him that I was the HP/Microsoft certified engineer and not the chimp behind the desk. Which point he went very quiet and asked if I wanted to swap the card. I said no due to the poor customer service, got my refund and went to www.overclockers.co.uk and gave Spie some money for his next Ferrari. Mate has had the same response at the same store about some software. He's a programmer / SQL consultant
