Tamiya Rough Rider re-release?
So, how did I miss the announcement that my favorite car in the whole world is being re-released? The Tamiya Rough Rider!
How cool is that? Can't wait for it and I'll definitely be racing it (with a slow motor!) - who's up for some controlled class rough rider racing? |
dude, so far out of the loop, must have been a busy week eh!
check out the enormous threads about it on TC, some sweet pics. |

Wow!
Uh Oh, I think I wet myself! Any idea when this is going to be available, cost etc. I've been hoping they'd do a re-make of this for ages. I hope they haven't changed too much about it. The shocks and front uprights are a good upgrade as the originals were pretty hopeless!

It's not limited ed, which is nice, still has the sealed radio box and they've tweaked the specs to improve the ride. threads are; http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/inde...opic=50313&hl= http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/inde...opic=50430&hl= also lots of pics of the tamiya stand at the show on Tamiyablog.com mat |
i just had a flashback to when i was 13 years old and have lost the plot completely buggy champ for me and ill be up for some racing too with this bad boy
|
Thats awesome, whos gonna be the first to put brushless in it and disintegrate the gearbox in 5 seconds flat? :woot:
|
I got an original box for one of these, what you think its worth?
|
worth is what anyone wants to pay for it, especially as they can now get a new one.
but if its original, and in GC then i'm sure you'll get a buyer pretty quickly, stick it on tamiyaclub and see what happens. |
I know someone sold an original box in fairly good nick for 155 quid on the bay recently! Big cash for a cardboard box!
|
Crazy! I sold my rough rider for 400 quid a couple of years ago, it was a nicely restored one and I was really sad to see it go, I've got a huge ammount of old SRB stuff which is now worth a heck of a lot less - but I'm more than happy they're brought this oldie out.
I think we need to have a Rough Rider 'sexiest build' competition - and definitely some racing. |
Rough rider re release
Yes the box that sold for £155 was my mate rich, he did very well there, personally to whoever bought it i would rather have saved the cash for a re-re rider NIB and had cash left to buy some extras!, but each to their own.
Not sure how you missed the thread mate as it was opened a week ago, notice the massive panic selling on ebay in last 10 days lol!. |
Though I've been a 'collector' for about 10 years, I've not really spent a lot of time with the vintage stuff over the last few as racing took over. I was thinking the vintage SRB's were too much at 500 quid or so, but then they went crazy it seems. I'd much prefer one of these rere's any day, I like the car(s) not the value or the rarity.
When Tamiya kicked off the re-releases with the Tyrell and 311 I wasn't too impressed - but it seems things have just been getting better and better, with the hot shot & frog etc, and now the ultimate! I'm looking forward to seeing what Tamiya themselves and possibly other 3rd parties bring out for the rough rider in terms of 'hop ups' or bling parts. |

On t'other hand this will surely p**s off the people who make silly money out of these things, and those who actually paid it. I'm definately up for some controlled class racing. Stock set up and a black can Sport Tuned as a suggestion. |
Just been reading some of the stuff on tamiyaclub and it's quite a funny read, lots of argument over a toy car!
With the seperate drive adaptors, unlike the original, I wonder if that mean's you'll be able to add a hex and put other types of wheel on for racing? not sure I'd reallly like to get in a 1st corner fight at a National with one tho, it'd disintigrate! |
Im gonna get two of these babies, one for the loft and one for a runner - Worksop `09 Rough Rider 13.5 brushless class anyone ?

YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! i've been waiting for this one!:D
