lipo issues
was running the b4 earlier today with a losi brushless, lrp sphere and ko helios when it strarted cutting out and then coming back. also noticed that the savox servo would struggle and then run fine again. any ideas?
Going to resetup the sphere and re peak the lipos and see what happens |
Was it thermaling?
|
Do you have a voltage protector capacitor plugged into the reciever? If not it would be a good idea to try one, could sort out your problems if they persist. Make sure no negative power wires are near the reciever wires. Check your esc/motor isn't getting too hot aswell.

It's the Sphere I took off you and ran fine on NIMHs...
Speedo and motor felt ok Nothing plugged into the Spektrum reciever. I do have one spare, but not using it yet in this set-up. I was running it with my 7.1 LRP ESC Not sure what you mean by thermalling, over heating? |
brushless esc's have thermal protection so if it gets to a certain temperature it cuts out to prevent damaging the circuit board, I doubt it will have thermalled though as its only 2wd unless you've got your car geared to high or too low or the punch/brake settings are really high
|
It was "punching" with the LIPOs, hence I'll re-check the LRP settings. Gearing I think it's ok. The motor wasn't getting warm with NIMHs.
I'll look at it in a bit etc. Got shelves to put up, hence no racing today :( |
I've got a feeling it's an issue with the 2.4 Spectrum reciever, I don't know. The servo goes quick, then very slow, then not at all and then gradually quick again. I've added the Spektrum capacitor, but no change.
Throttle seems better, I'm wondering if the pair on the TX/RX has become stuffed. |
Can you re-bind them?
|
Yup rebound it ok, I'm now think the Savox servo has gone. When the servo is plugged in and operated it's like the speedo / RX goes into shutdown. The servo is also performing very slowly until it all stops. Without the servo the motor / ESC operates without issues.
Servo is also quite warm after very little use. What's the warranty on Savox servos as mine is under a month old. The only final thing I can try is swap the TX out for my old 40Mhz AM KO kit. |
Which savox servo is it? There are 2 versions...12kg and 20kg torque ones...people have been posting with power issues using the 20kg one?
|
SC1258 which is the 12KG version
RX is the SR3001 What would kill a Savox Servo? |
are you running it on auto cell detect lipo/nimh or jus nimh mode? dunno if this wll make a difference
|
Running on NIMHs at the moment and tried both settings, makes no difference. Same with my LIPO pack.
I'm about to email DMS as the servo is about 1 month old and see what they say. |
ok mate i have a savox servo and it awesome but have no idea what the warranty service is

Being a month old time to find out how "awesome" the Savox after service is... Fingers crossed DMS can help, otherwise I'll be going back to KO servos. |
who is the distributor for savox?

Ok thanks, I'll get it packed up tonight. Where will it head back to and do we know what the lead times etc will be? (Just so I can tap people up if I need to beg / borrow / steal a servo) |
